I have a muscular chin with fat underneath as well. I am hoping for a smooth jawline when smiling but don't want to make my chin more prominent necessarily. As you can see from the front view and at rest, it's not as much of an issue (only when smiling via profile does it bother me). What procedure is recommended for the desired results?

Answer: Chin reduction Chin reduction can help with a large protruding chin 'Witch's chin'. This is usually an abundance of soft tissue which causes a bulge. The procedure involves making an incision below the chin, accessing the extra soft tissue and removing it while taking care to preserve the muscles. Along with this some skin is removed below the chin to have a pulling effect on the chin and leading to a smaller or less protruding chin.

Answer: Which Chin Procedure? Not a Simple Solution Dear Ari, Thank you for your pictures. I understand what you mean. In my opinion without direct examination, you have several issues concerning your lower jaw and chin. At the current position of your lower jaw and chin you have fullness of the mentalis muscle and overactivity of that muscle. That in of itself is hard to correct. Where I think the increased muscle activity is a compensatory mechanism due to a recessive lower jaw, a slightly prominent chin, facial asymmetry and a decrease height to the lower third of your face. In order to potentially improve this area, you would need a fairly large operation in my opinion. This would include at least a lower jaw surgery and probably a two jaw surgery parentheses orthodontic surgery. Because you have concerns when you're animated I don't think there's really any go to camouflage procedure that would address your concerns. The best thing to do is to have 2 to 3 consultations if possible with plastic surgeons and or oral surgeons who are well-versed in this with this issue. Best wishes, ESJ, #TruthAndTransformation
