Removal of vascularized medpor chin implant - Do I need to see a DDS, or is another MD okay?

Six years ago I had a medpor chin implant placed. I recently had 3 of the 4 screws securing it removed because I had a verified allergy to the titanium screws. My surgeon was unable to remove the 4th screw as it was too vascularized to even be seen during the operation. He's recommending I see a DDS to have the implant and screw removed. Do I need to see a DDS, or is another MD okay?
