I’m a male in my early 20s. Im considering either a sliding genioplasty or a chin implant and I’m leaning towards implant. I think I’d benefit from an increase in both the forward and vertical projection of my chin. I don’t want to end up with a deep labiomental fold, which I think a standard anatomical chin implant might cause. Would something like the vertical lengthening chin implant make sense then?
Answer: Genioplasty I think you would benefit greatly from a genioplasty. This is a permanent procedure that allows us to pretty much put your chin in whatever position you like. By bringing it slightly forward and down, this would create more definition and length to your jawline and add balance to your profile. I almost always recommend a genioplasty over an implant because it is more versatile and predictable.

Answer: Considering a chin implant? What you need to know first Thank you for your question. Without examining you in person, it is impossible to tell you which procedure might provide you with the most benefit. My recommendation is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who can assess the structure of your face and listen to your aesthetic goals. From there, your surgeon can offer you options that will achieve your desired results, whether surgical, nonsurgical, or a combination of both. Best of luck!

Answer: Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation with Injectable Fillers -- Radiesse, Sculptra, Surgical Implants, See an Expert A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the overall appearance of the lower face and balancing the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline and improve the chin crease. Implants are still a great option once you are 100% positive that you are ready for a permanent enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert; our practice is located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Selection of chin implant Based on these photos, it appears that you are lacking both vertical (height) and projection. Only on the basis of in person consultation it would be possible to select exact type and size of implant that you may need. Good luck.

Answer: What type of chin implant would be best for me? Placement of a chin implant gives augmentation mostly in the forward direction, some lateral wind and a small amount of vertical height. In our practice, we use Implantech brand of solid silicone chin implants for over 30 years with an excellent success rate. The size of the implant matters much more than the shape. The implants are usually placed under local anesthesia which takes approximately 30 minutes
