Am I candidate for a chin implant? (photos)

Hi, I've hated my chin for a very long time and I've finally decided to do something about it. My biggest complex is from the front, but I do think the side profile is a bit weak as well. I only want natural changes, so I'm wondering if a chin implant is an option for me? The picture on the right shows how I want my chin to look, while the left one is how it looks now.

Hello @peeter1994 thank you for your question. Base on the photos you are a candidate for chin implant to give more definition to the area. I suggest you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon if you are thinking of having surgery, because to achieve a harmonious result you have to take into account the over all face and not just one area. It appears from the photos that your chin projection is good, but your chin is short vertically. The photos show that you have a deep mentolabial fold which corresponds to a short chin in most cases. A vertical lengthening genioplasty is the best treatment for increasing the vertical height of the chin.

Hello, Based on the photos you provided, chin implant or genioplasty will be a good idea.Surely, implant would be simpler way but if you do not want any foreign body inside of face, then you can have genioplasty which only uses your own bone. The most common genioplasty would be sliding genioplasty. Both procedures need titanium for fixation plate and screws. For chin implant, silicone implant would be the most common and safest choice. The size if the implant can be discussed after CT scan. For more accurate plans, you should have in-person consultation with a surgeon.

What you are demonstrating is a modest chin augmentation effect that is both horizontal and vertical in dimension. A chin implant would work to do so but the key is a chin implant that is made/designed to achieve that exact dimensional effect.

The augmentation from a chin implant is mostly in the forward projection, with only a moderate amount of lateral width improvement.
