I'm interested in abdominal etching / possible 360 degree lipo to reveal abdominal muscles. (Male, 38, 23 BMI.) My question is, I have Crohn's Disease and recently had open bowel resection surgery, leaving me with an 8 inch midline incision (this was actually my third such surgery over the last 20 years). Is there any worry that scarring or other considerations underneath/around the midline incision could interfere with an ab etching procedure? Thanks!
Answer: Abdominal etching after having open bowel resection surgery A midline incisional scar from a previous abdominal surgery increases your risk for a bowel injury or intraabdominal organ injuries when liposuction is performed. Unfortunately, you would not be an ideal candidate to have this procedure done. I would recommend being evaluated by a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: Abdominal Etching After Open Bowel Resection Surgery Thank you for your question regarding whether you can get abdominal etching after having open bowel resection surgery for Crohn's disease. Thank you for an excellent question. In my opinion, I believe you can have abdominal etching. During VASER hi def abdominal etching. During VASER Hi-Def liposuction, the etching of the semilunar line, horizontal transcriptions lines, and the linea alba lines are debulked of fat to reveal the underline rectus abdominis muscles. You will get optimal results if your chosen plastic surgeon does not do aggressive liposuction over the midline incision. If the incision does not go up to your sternum, you may need further liposuction from the upper portion of the incision to the bottom of the sternum. Alternatively, you may need liposuction along either line of the vertical scar. This may not be easy, but I believe in experience. VASER hi def liposuction surgeon will be able to accomplish this. The semilunar and horizontal transcription lines should not be too challenging to create. For the horizontal transcription lines, I would suggest the lines be placed laterally instead of medially over your midline preexisting incision. Overall, I think it is worth the endeavor, and you would get excellent results. Please seek an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Great questions I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon to determine if you are a candidate. It may or may not interfere with ab etching.

Answer: Abdominal Etching That's a very good question. I have been performing Ab Etching for about 19 years now. I have treated several patients with a midline scar and was able to give them a very nice definition. I have had a couple patients who had a bad midline scar that I revised at the same time. The scar tissue that is under the scar you see on your skin can make the surgery tough, but it definitely can be done!

Answer: Abdominal etching If the scar is properly located in the midline of the abdomen, it has no effect on the abdominal liposuction procedure. If you want to boost your muscular volume, I suggest taking the Spartan technique, which includes injecting your abdominal muscles with fat to speed healing and provide a natural appearance.
