Yes, I know it could be worse but I am just curious as to what my options are. I find my nose too large and I am also bothered by my small nasal hump (I want it to be very slightly upturned) and the tip is bulbous and droopy. Something looks off with my jaw and forehead too, but I’m not sure what exactly. I have attached photos of both sides of my face and also my ideal side profile. Also, why do the two sides of my face look so different?
Answer: Sure, there are things that can be done. See the morph I made from your photos. Click on the "Learn more" link, just below my response, or go here: FacialSurgery.com/RealSelf/RealSelf_anon123214.html I made a computer morph of your nose, and an animation of the morph, to show the changes that are possible for your nose in truly expert hands.I lowered the bump on the bridge, and I elevated the tip upward a touch. I tried to simulate narrowing the tip, but the profile view doesn't really show the width of the tip very much. See if you think the morph captured what you're looking for. When someone who has a not-so-bad nose wants a change, I usually think in terms of going just a bit farther than the average patient might want, so we get enough change to make the operation worthwhile, and make sure we address the complaints. Wouldn't want to have surgery and end up with a nose that is inadequately changed. The goals, of course, are up to the patient, though. You should understand that the changes I demonstrated in the morph require advanced techniques, techniques that most plastic surgeons cannot handle. Be sure to read the section in the "Learn more" link on how to stay out of trouble while searching for a rhinoplasty surgeon. Rhinoplasty is an exquisitely difficult operation to get right, and you should only have surgery if you are able to make yourself very confident in your surgeon's skills. Read that page very carefully. I'd love to hear what you think of the morph. Did it seem to address your main concerns? I could modify the morph to your taste if you wish. For example, the model's nose that you posted has more of a little scoopy bridge. Maybe you'd like a bridge closer to hers. Your nose is also a good example of why computer imaging is mandatory in rhinoplasty. You need to know exactly what the surgeon is planning to accomplish -- what features he thinks he can change, and by how much he thinks he can change them. When you see his goals, you'll know whether he has an eye for an attractive nose, and whether he shares your opinion of what constitutes an attractive nose. You'll also know whether the changes he proposes are enough to be meaningful to you, and whether he understands your wishes enough to address all of your priorities. How would you ever get that figured out without the morphs?! But remember, you're not hiring him for his skills with the computer. The doctor must then show you his before and after photos to prove that he can actually accomplish what he draws on the computer. In your case in particular, you need to find a surgeon who understands all of the issues I mentioned, and how they fit together, and who can actually accomplish them in surgery.

Answer: Rhinoplasty to improve profile I would recommend starting with a consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty surgery to discuss if rhinoplasty can address your concerns. I would recommend writing down the following questions before scheduling your consultation: 1. Are you unhappy with the tip of your nose? 2. Do you feel that your nose is too wide? 3. Do you want to make your nostrils smaller in appearance? 4. Are you looking to decrease the general size of your nose? I hope some of these questions will help you pinpoint what it is that you don't like about your nose. Cost will vary due to various factors like anesthesia fees, facilities fees, etc. I wish you the best as you research your options when scheduling a rhinoplasty consultation. Sincerely, Philip J. Miller, MD, FACS Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Facial evaluation Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. You may also benefit from a cephalic rotation of your tip to turn up your tip slightly and a conservative dorsal hump reduction. A chin implant can be performed at the same time for improved jaw line contour. I always use a medpor implant with screw fixation, which stays in place over time. A silicone chin implant has a high rate of malrotation over time. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty and chin implant Dear Anon, Thanks for posting your pictures and your goal picture. It would have very helpful to see your front picture as well. From observing your pictures the following is noticed:1. Nasal dorsal hump. Shaving it off will give you more attractive nose like in your goal picture.2. Retracted columella. A cartilage graft will increase the show of the columella with nice naso - labial angle.3. Small and short chin. Medium size Mittleman chin jowl implant will make your face more balanced and attractive. It will lengthen your face slightly and give you more chin projection. You have to realize that not all results are the same, because experience, technical skills and aesthetic eye are critical for good outcome, so, do your due diligence carefully and choose your surgeon wisely. Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Answer: Bulbous Nose? Rhinoplasty Candidate to improve profile Correcting a bulbous or wide nose can be done with rhinoplasty which will help your nose appear slimmer. An expert facial plastic surgeon looks at the whole of your face when deciding how to make your nose look harmonious with the rest of your features. That includes taking into account such factors as ethnicity and gender. I hope this helps.
