What can be done to improve my side profile? (photo)

Question

I always wear my hair down as I’m insecure about my side profile, but I can’t place my finger on exactly what is making it look so bad. Any ideas?

Thank you for your question i would recommend operation using the latest Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty device Piezo®: 
In traditional Rhinoplasty, surgical instruments known as rasps and osteotomies (hammer and chisel) are used to reshape the nasal bones by removing the hump and/or narrowing the nasal bone width. These tools are relatively imprecise and their use can lead to contour irregularities, etc. if not used in the proper manner. Recently, a technology that uses sound waves has been developed to contour nasal bones in a precise and far less traumatic way when compared to traditional techniques. Ultrasonic, or Piezo, Rhinoplasty is now the most advanced technology available for minimally traumatic nasal bone reshaping and hump removal during Rhinoplasty. There will be hardly any bruising and swelling which will make the recovery period a lot easier for the patient.

Without seeing the forehead, the assessment is less accurate.

It may be that what you seek to achieve is the balance of the profile shape with the smaller size of the nose and possibly different shape. Reduction of the bridge height and slight tip shortening of them combined with a slight reduction in the tip projection can change the character of the profile.

The best way to evaluate this is to do some computer simulations and see if there is a version of the profile that makes you feel comfortable. Based on the evaluation it is possible to discuss what type of surgery could turn it into a reality.

Thank you for sharing the photos. There aren't any concrete issues with your profile. However if you do decided to improve your facial aesthetic from profile, you could perhaps consider rhinoplasty (your nose could do being less projected with the tip slightly raised as these are considered more feminine and pleasing to the eye) and chin surgery to increase your lower facial height and reduce the deep labiomental fold.

Your nose would benefit from removing the hump, lifting the tip, and reducing the nostrils. It might be worth going on some consults and having computer simulation done.

It’s always important to remember that there is something called a ‘variation of normal’ and we are individual because of these, otherwise we would all look the same. It’s also easy to try and fit yourself into an image of perfection and that is often influenced by what we see in the media.

Ask yourself what part of your face you think you don’t like or what you feel most conscious of, or like to see more of. Discuss with a close and trusted friend. If you are covering the side of your face with your hair it must be something under your hair or how that relates to the rest of your face, that concerns you.

As pointers to what might be your concern, the profile appearance of the face is denoted by the definition and angle of the jawline, the neck line, the shape of the chin, lips, nose and forehead. All these can individually be changed to improve appearance or, one or more changed together to achieve a desired appearance.
