Hello! I recently had my blood work done a week prior to my surgery and everything came back great, excluding my Prothrombin Time. Will I be cleared for Rhinoplasty with an INR of 1.2?

If the absence of any past medical history of bleeding disorders or a medication history of anticoagulants/blood-thinners, this should not be a problem. Depending on the lab, there is typically a normal reference range. This is a margin of error for most lab tests. If your surgeon is concerned, they may request medical clearance prior to your surgery.

Preoperative labs are one of  measures of your condition before surgery. INR slightly increased value does not mean that your will have increased bleeding during any surgery including rhinoplasty in particular, considering that we use  vasoconstricting agents to decrease bleeding and improve visuality of operative field in most elective, cosmetic surgeries. However, it is comfort and discretion of your surgeon upon which decision to operate or not should be based. Good luck.
