Hi there, I recently went to get cheek fillers. She insisted I try Dyport in my platysma bands instead. I was really hesitant but she said my muscles or bands are a lot stronger than cheek fullers so i should do this before I try the fillers. I'm really upset because its not what i went in for and just dropped $400. Will getting dysport injected in my platysma bands really make a lot of difference in my cheek area or did I just waste my money?

Answer: Platysmal band / cheeks HI there, There seems to have been a communication issue here. Dysport in the platysmal bands will have no effect on the cheeks however there may be a mild tightening effect in the jowel area with softening of the downward pull of the lower face muscles. Hyaluronic acid placed carefully along the cheek contour can help define and lift to improve mid face volume and this Make sure you visit an experienced practitioner and feel 100% certain about the treatment plan. Hope this helps,Best wishes,Dr Rupert

Answer: Cheek Fillers and Neck Bands Treatment of platysmal bands will have no effect on your cheeks. Your situation underscores the importance of communication between patient and provider with a clear discussion of concerns, goals, and ways to achieve them. Without knowing the details of your experience, I don't know how the discussion went from your cheeks to your platysmal bands. In general, my approach is to educate patients on the anatomy and physiology behind their concerns and which treatments I recommend to address them and how they do so. You should never feel pressured to do a treatment you don't want to do. If you don't feel comfortable with your provider you can always leave and get another opinion. Best wishes.
