How many units of dysport to slim down my jaw and help with tmj ?

Thank you for your question, farrahb! Typically we use around 20 units of Botox for each Masseter muscle to create jaw slimming. That would be 60 units of Dysport. If this does not seem to be enough you can always add more after 1-2 weeks. You want to be sure to not over do it in this area as it can create problems with chewing.

In the US we use 15-20u per side of botox to start with, then add more if needed.  If you use too much at once you can overly slim the jaw and cause looseness OR you can make it difficult to chew. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

I would use a minimum of 30 units of Dysport per side to slim the masseter and improve TMJ.  In some cases, I find as much as 60 units per side is needed.  

The number of units of Dysport to treat the masseter muscles will vary. An estimate would be 45-60 units per side. The effects will last approximately 3 to 4 months, although some patients report it lasts longer. See an experienced injector for treatment.

Its hard to give you an accurate answer without having a face to face consult. At Star cosmetic medicine an average amount used would be minimum 60 units of Dysport on each side. Total being 120 units. In saying this everyone is difference and is does depending on how strong your masseter muscle is. 

While it is difficult to recommend a specific number of units without an in-person evaluation, I will say that you can always receive more Dysport or a touch-up if at first you do not fully realize your goal.  However, once injected you cannot remove Dysport, and  will have to wait until the procedure wears off months later.  That being said Dysport  can work very well to relieve the symptoms of TMJ and slim the face.  I would recommend that you get an in-person evaluation, start on the lower side, see how your body reacts to Dysport and create a specific treatment plan with your provider that works best for your needs.
