Is it normal to have random bouts of quick numbness and tingling 6 weeks post Dysport?

Question

I'm 6 weeks post Dysport injections to my glabella and forehead. I am starting to have 50% more movement and also some tingling and numbness in the area once a day. Just this evening after leaning over to put the sheets in the bed I stood up and looked in the mirror while having tingling in my forehead and I had two very large lumps on my forehead. I held my hand over them and relaxed my muscles and tilted my head back and they disappeared. What could cause this and should I be alarmed?

I recommend speaking to your injector about your concerns. Dysport results last up to 3-4 months and can be softened with venus legacy and thermage treatments. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

What you have described is not typical and should be evaluated by your injector.  Minor swelling can occur at the injection site, but this generally would occur immediately after treatment and resolve within a few hours.  These symptoms occurring six weeks after treatment would warrant an examination.

I recommend that you contact your Doctor/Injector regarding your symptoms. These are not normal expected outcome to have 6 weeks post treatment of Dysport, however, a sensitivity to neurotoxins could occur post injection.  Your neurotoxin history and any medical history would be ideal information to have when discussing with your provider.

This is not normal or previously described in any study. For something like that you need to go see the person who injected you. Could be lots of things; it is most likely that your body didn’t react well to that dose. Regardless Dysport should wear off in three months. If your injector was not a board certified physician or doesn’t feel comfortable handling medical issues go see someone who does
