I am a 55 year old woman who has lost over 125 lbs in the last year (no surgery). I am seeking a tummy tuck to remove the loose skin and flab that won't go away on their own. Both surgeons I saw recommended the fleur di lis because of the excess skin on my upper abdomen. Can you please discuss pros and cons? Thank you!

Answer: You can only decide which is the best for you; how averse are you to scars? The fleur de lis technique will allow for the most amount of skin to be removed in both the vertical and horizontal planes. However it will leave you with scars that cannot be covered by under wear or bikini and it has a higher risk of delayed wound healing.

Answer: Fleur de Lis VS Full TT You have to acknowledge when someone develop central obesity and the majority of the volume Is located in the abdominal area, the skin got stretched not only on the length but mainly on the width, so the need of the vertical incision is a reality. You have developed a lot of skin on the width but I think you may get away just with the traditional horizontal incision and get a great result. If after several months you make the decision to do the vertical, it will be a much easier recovery, less aggressive just to do that procedure.Be encouraged.Dr. Cardenas
