When does the bandage come off after a full TT?

i just had full TT the drain was taken out on 6th day it had 20cc of fluid in it . but intern didnt take bandage off so i cant bath yet either . when or should the bandage been taken off then , my doc wasnt there for this opp

Management of wounds in bandages after any operation is done at the discretion of your surgeon. In my practice the dressings are removed in two days in the patient's are permitted to shower.

Dear Maria,thank you for your question and congratulations for your operation.Different surgeons have different preferences with regards to drains, bandages, exercise etcIn my practice I remove all bandages between day 5 and 7.You might want to contact your surgeon to arrange another follow up shortly as I am sure you should nearly ready to have your dressings removed,Hope it helps.All the bestAndrea Marando

The timing of dressing changes and follow up appointments vary by surgeon so be sure to ask your surgeon this question.  I must say though that leaving a dressing on for 6 days seems like a long time.  Call your surgeon to get an update. I usually let my patients shower the day after the drains are out.

Different doctors have different ideas on post-op care and dressings. Call to speak to your doctor directly. I personally like to remove the dressings on the first day after surgery and start bathing 48 hours after surgery.
