I am 5'6" 170-175 lbs. Ideally I want to weigh 145 lbs. I have lost 140 lbs through diet and exercise from a high of 315 lbs. I was super excited for my surgery which is a month out but now I think I should just cancel it until I get to my goal weight based on everything that I have been reading. This is really depressing to me as it seems near impossible for me to break my plateau but I also don't want to waste my surgeons time or my own. Any advice would be appreciated - thank you.

Answer: Goal Weight for Surgery Congratulations on your weight loss! That is an amazing achievement and you should be very proud. I always recommend that my patients be as close to their goal weight as they can before undergoing surgery, not only for safety purposes, but so that they can achieve the aesthetic results that they are looking for. If you are having difficulty losing those last 25 pounds, I would recommend looking into a personal trainer, or a wellness program that includes an individualized diet plan coupled with medications such as HCG, phentermine, or B12 injections (if you are eligible) which can assist you in your weight loss goals. I also recommend reaching out to your plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns. Wishing you the best of luck!

Answer: Mommy Makeover Goals Ellie. Great job on the weight-loss, you should be proud! Since your BMI is less than 30 and you have plateaued, it is not unreasonable to go ahead with your surgery. If you do lose another 20 or 30 pounds afterwords, you may or may not need a minor revision. Be certain to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon for more detailed advice. Best of luck.
