I am 5'6" 170-175 lbs. Ideally I want to weigh 145 lbs. I have lost 140 lbs through diet and exercise from a high of 315 lbs. I was super excited for my surgery which is a month out but now I think I should just cancel it until I get to my goal weight based on everything that I have been reading. This is really depressing to me as it seems near impossible for me to break my plateau but I also don't want to waste my surgeons time or my own. Any advice would be appreciated - thank you.
Answer: Your weight before surgery If you think you can reach your goal weight and maintain it, then waiting is probably a good idea. It is not a good idea to reach your goal weight, have the surgery, and then gain weight again. If your current weight and lifestyle are stable, then it is definitely reasonable to proceed with surgery.

Answer: Still about 25 lbs above goal weight - should I cancel my tummy tuck and breast lift? Congratulations with your impressive weight loss! For optimal results it is recommended to be as close to your goal weight as possible and be able to maintain it. Since you are 25bls away I would advise you to wait until after you have accomplished your goal and then proceed with the tummy tuck.

Answer: Mommy Make Over and Weight Loss Congratulations on your impressive weight loss! The procedures you have mentioned would be the best way to get rid of extra skin you may have from your weight loss journey. You would achieve the best results once you have reached your goal weight. If you are expecting to lose more weight, the best route would be to postpone your procedure for the time being until you have reached your goal. Best of luck!

Answer: Mommy makeover Congratulations on your weight loss! Without the benefit of an exam or pictures it is difficult to tell you whether or not you should proceed with your surgery or postpone it until you can lose more weight. Generally speaking your results are best if you can get as close to your goal weight as possible prior to surgery. What does your surgeon say? You may be just the right weight now and may have a great result.

Answer: Goal Weight for Surgery Congratulations on your weight loss! That is an amazing achievement and you should be very proud. I always recommend that my patients be as close to their goal weight as they can before undergoing surgery, not only for safety purposes, but so that they can achieve the aesthetic results that they are looking for. If you are having difficulty losing those last 25 pounds, I would recommend looking into a personal trainer, or a wellness program that includes an individualized diet plan coupled with medications such as HCG, phentermine, or B12 injections (if you are eligible) which can assist you in your weight loss goals. I also recommend reaching out to your plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns. Wishing you the best of luck!
