Can the Miradry procedure affect my ability to breastfeed?

Miradry uses energy to directly target and eliminate your sweat glands in your underarm area.  It does not effect your breast glands, lymph nodes, or other important structures in the axillary area.  You are safe to breastfeed after your treatment.  Best of luck with your future pregnancy!

Miradry does not effect breast tissue. miraDry is the first and only FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment that safely and effectively reduces excess underarm sweat and odor. Great question!  Miradry is a great treatment to permanently reduce under-arm sweat. It treats the skin in the underarm with energy directed to the level of 4mm which is where the sweat glands are. There is no affect on the breast tissue and therefore does not interfere with breastfeeding. Congratulations on your twins and I wish you well with your next pregnancy!

Thanks for your question.  It is very unlikely that MiraDry will cause any problems with breastfeeding.  The procedure is not performed over the milk-producing glands.  Be sure it is performed under proper supervision and the plastic surgeon or dermatologist's office has a lot of experience with the procedure.  Best of luck!

This treatment has nothing to do with breast feeding.  The tissue of the armpit is treated.  It is best to be seen and examined.  The majority of patients see an 82% reduction in underarm sweat with one treatment.

MiraDry only is only performed in the hair bearing area under the underarm, if performed by a certified doctor/practitioner this should not have any effect on your ability to breastfeed. Miradry treatment works by using electromagnetic energy to combat excessive sweating and odor of the underarm area. The miraDry System focuses treatment to the area where the sweat glands reside (about 4 mm beneath the surface of the skin) and employs unique safety features to protect deeper tissue.  It will not affect the area of the breast tissue or mammary glands and would not affect breastfeeding or your ability to breastfeed.
