Thanks for your excellent question. I encourage my patients to begin walking on the evening of surgery and then continue walking for at least 15 minutes several times per day. This helps prevent blood clots in your legs, improves your gut motility, and helps expand your lungs. Please ask your board certified plastic surgeon for specific recommendations. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your question. Walking as soon as you can after surgery, either the day of surgery or the day after surgery (with assistance if needed) has many benefits, including the prevention of blood clots in your legs, improving breathing, and also improving your gut mobility, especially if you are taking narcotic pain medications which can cause constipation. Consult your plastic surgeon for their individualized recommendations after your surgery. Hope this helps..best of luck!
This question will be best answered by your surgeon. I would definitely recommend that you wait until your drains are removed. My best,Dr. Sheila Nazarian@drsheilanazarian on Instagram
I appreciate your question.I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon. Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time. I have my patients up and walking with assistance the same day of their surgery. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aestheticand restorative plastic surgery.Best of luck!Dr Schwartz
Walking is very important to prevent DVT, start as soon as you possibly can. Best of luck, Jane
In my opinion, you can go for a slow or leisurely walk at this point. You need to ask your plastic surgeon his or her feelings regarding this. Best wishes.
Thank you for your question. Most patients return to a slow walk the day of surgery, and ambulatory is encouraged to avoid blood clots. Activities that may substantially elevate your blood pressure or heart rate tend to be avoided for the first two weeks after surgery as this increases the risk of bleeding, while activity advancement should be governed by your surgeon.
Walking after a mommy makeover is recommended! You do not need to wait until the drains are removed.I encourage my mommy makeover patients to walk some each day, and after a few weeks they may liberalize their activities. Still, no heavy lifting or weightlifting for at least one month.
You will be able to walk around your house right away. Resuming a slow walk around the block for example should wait for a couple of weeks. Restrictions typically end at six weeks and you can return to normal activity. This should all first be cleared by your surgeon who is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery.
I encourage all of my patients to be walking around the house right after surgery to prevent blood clots and when they are able to go outside to get some fresh air. Discuss with your PS.
You can use some gauze pads to protect your bra from any drainage from your incisions. You want to select a comfortable, well fitting bra. It can take up to six months for you to see your final results. Continue to follow your surgeon's post operative instructions for best results.
Thanks for your question. There is a plastics residency program at LSU. I suggest you call the Department of Plastic Surgery to schedule a consultation in the "resident's clinic" . Hope this helps and good luck.
Loose skin in the midsection can be tightened with a tummy tuck or body lift. These treatments would remove the excess skin along with stubborn fat if necessary.
