hi it all depends on type of procedure and how well your healing is going. this is a question that needs to be answered by your operating surgeon. it is not possible to give you good advice. in general terms, if all is healing well, I release my patients for light cardio only at around three weeks.
You didn't say in your question, but if you are referring to a tummy tuck, in my practice, I generally start people walking the day of surgery, but no vigorous activity or exercise for 6 weeks. Every surgeon and their recommendations are different so you will certainly want to check with your surgeon.
Since you do not state what surgery you had done, I would recommend that you speak with your operating surgeon to find out how long he/she recommends that you wait before exercising. But generally speaking, I let my patients start walking within 2 days after surgery, but not power walking. Anything more than that would need an exam and evaluation. Good luck!
I am assuming you are referring to a abdominoplasty (aka tummy tuck). Obviously it is always best to ask your plastic surgeon such questions but here is what I tell my patients:1). No exercise for at least 6 weeks. Start back slowly and pay attention to what's happening to your abdomen. It may swell or ache. If it does, back off that activity and try again in 2 weeks.2). No sit-ups, Yoga, or Pilates for 6 months to a year. This protects the muscle tightening that is typical done during abdominoplasty.
Great question! The recovery will vary per patient. Most of my patients are able to return to work and driving 2 weeks after surgery, and 4-6 weeks for exercise. Every surgeon has different recommendations, so I would recommend following your surgeon's instructions.
Thank you for your question. This is a question best left to your surgeon, as they know the type of procedure, and extent of work that your surgery entailed. In general, for a tummy tuck, patients can return to light cardio walking after 2 weeks, and more strenuous activities at 6-8 weeks.
If you had a tummy tuck, only your board - certified Plastic Surgeon should tell you when to increase your activity as he or she monitors you postoperatively. Everyone's surgery and recovery is a little different. My tummy tuck patient's typically begin to do light cardio at 3-4 weeks, but walking is encouraged even the day of surgery.
I would check with your surgeon as the extent of the procedure sometimes dictates how soon one can return to exercise. I generally let my full tummy tuck patients start mild exercise such as walking at 2 weeks.
Greetings. You could possibly do some light exercise 4 to 6 weeks postop. Every surgeon has a different recommendation. It would be beneficial to talk with your surgeon to determine when you can resulme exercise activities. Best wishes.
It is commendable that you wish to return to exercise. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to determining the return to specific activities after the specific procedures performed. He/she will know exactly how you are progressing and whether or not you have experienced any complications. Remember, that he/she is ultimately responsible for your care. Having said that, I ask my tummy tuck patients to start walking ASAP after surgery but refrain from any heavy-lifting or strenuous exercise for 6-8 weeks to prevent complications and ensure proper healing. It may be 4-6 months before you reach your full energy and strength levels. Best to “go slow” and listen to your body as you gradually increase your activity level. Best wishes.
Is done routinely around the world. You must let your general surgeon know of the procedures you've had so he/she can be best prepared for choosing access sites for her instruments. If you are not having symptoms (the presence of stones alone does not mean your gall bladder must come...
We can talk about technical details of the operation, but it's of little importance at this point. An issue that has not been raised by my colleagues is how much visceral fat you have in your abdomen. If the abdominal wall is tight due to intra-abdominal contents, tightening it further will not...
