One side of my jaw is larger than the other and its been a huge self confidence issue for me for a long time. Im almost 30 and have EDS so my skin seems to be sagging a bit now and i think that is contributing even more to my selfconsiousness. Im wondering if there are non surgical ways to help balance out my face or if I just need to get a surgery?

You have a yaw of your lower jaw, meaning the back part at the angle of your jaw is kicked out on the right side. It is a little tucked in on the left, but not too much. That is why your right angle is more defined and your left is more rounded which you can really see on your 3/4 pics. Your chin is vertically and rotationally asymmetric as well, so best way to correct that would be to do a genioplasty, rotate it in to a normal position, contour the jawline to balance it all together. You could also get rid of the cleft in your chin if you want, but don’t need to if you like it (in my experience its 50:50-people either love the cleft on themselves or they want it gone). Would be a great outcome, you would contour more at the angle on the right, midportion (body) of the mandible on the left and that gives a more V-shape and improved definition. The worry always is that the soft tissue will sag off, but that’s not really a concern in this area, unless you do a reduction that is overly aggressive. You have good skin and good upper, middle and lower third balance, so soft tissue will be supported as long as your doc respects the limits.

It is very difficult to evaluate your asymmetry based on these photos; in person consultation would help. Most likely that augmentation of the smaller side with fillers would be sufficient to correct asymmetry. Hope this helps. Good luck.

If this is a muscle issue, botox is a good treatment.  However, if it is largely bone, we can contour it to reduce.  This is done through the inside of the mouth and should increase symmetry. Watch our videos to learn more.
