I read a lot of surgeons on here said that silicon breaet argumentation cannot be a causation of allergy reaction after the surgery. But after some sort of 'assessment' they did, they refused me for the surgery. I've had allergy reaction to a bamboo shoot and an apple ONCE, which were not asthma, but I still eat them and I never get the reactions anymore. I've eaten banana and pinapple yesterday and had no problem.
Answer: Latex and Silicone are not the same substance. This concern is not uncommonly brought up by patients. However, a known allergy to Latex is not a contraindication for breast augmentation surgery. Both Silicone gel filled and Saline filled implants have a Silicone shell (or balloon) so the logic of this reason for refusal does not add up. If you are still wanting to pursue this surgery you should clear up what appears to be a communication error. Dr. Mosher

Answer: No Allergies to Silicone Hello, There is no latex in silicone or saline implants, and many women who do have latex allergies have silicone gel and saline implants. Go visit a few ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeons who specialize in breast surgery. Silicone gel implants are superior in performance and durability compared to saline implants.

Answer: Hmmmm. Try another doctor I remember years ago they toyed with the idea of filling breast implants with peanut oil.... imagine those allergies! I think they called them Breast "Im-Planters".... other than if the surgeons own operating facility cannot handle a latex allergy patient, I cannot think of any reason why you could not have silicon implants... just make sure you get the ones that are bamboo shoot free!!! They're not hard to find!!!

Answer: Surgeon refused silicone BA because I may have latex allergy. I am allergic to many things but why are they refusing me? Thank you for your question. Sounds like there may have been some miscommunication in the planning process. There should be no contraindication to you have breast augmentation with a latex allergy. There are some operating facilities that do not take patients with latex allergy due to the cost of provided non-latex items and if your surgeon does not have privileges at another facility that can accommodate a person with latex allergy, that might be a reason why they are refusing you. Regardless, there are plenty of surgeons in your area who would be more than willing to accomodate you, so I suggest you seek out a second opinion.Best of luck!
