Can my nostrils be angled so they don't look round? (photos)

Question

I find the tip of my nose too short and round, the bridge of my nose is too low also my nostrils are really round and wide. I don't know how to put it in a sentence but I want nostrils that are defined and angled to make my nose look more refined and angled.

After reviewing your photos and reading your concerns, I believe that you are a good candidate for rhinoplasty.  This would build up the height of the bridge of your nose, add tip projection, and narrow the nasal tip and base.  I recommend consulting with a Board-Certified plastic surgeon who will accurately examine your nose, create a simulation based on what your nose could look like after surgery, and develop a plan tailored to your needs and wishes. Whorvi,No worries!!  From your photos and your written concerns, you should find an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon that will address them without difficulty.  At your consultation, express exactly what you do not like and your ideal shape of the nose you desire.  Computer simulation is a great tool to do this.  Rhinoplasty surgery has many facets to it and as you correct one aspect it also changes others.  Great communicaton between patient and surgeon is paramount.  Good Luck.

Thank you for the question and photos.  Much of what you describe is common for nose shape and proportions of certain ethnicities.  Improvement of the aspects of the nose that you describe often requires adding projection to the bridge and tip of the nose.  This can be done in several ways depending on the degree of improvement desired as well as personal preferences.  Options for increased nasal projection includes:injectable fillerssynthetic implantrib or other autologous (ear or septal) cartilage graftsIn doing so, the shape and appearance of your nostrils will automatically change as well. An alar plasty accomplishes narrowing wide nostrils by removal of a wedge of skin at the base of the nostrils. Composite skin grafts harvested from the ear can help with alar  retraction. It is impossible to make the nostrils more defined and angled

Thanks for the question. Based on your concerns, I do think that you are a candidate for surgery. This would involve increasing the height of your bridge and adding projection (height) and rotation of your tip. This will give you a more defined tip. You appear to have made an excellent analysis of your nose, Correctong  a low profile, inadequate tip projection, and flaring wide nostrils can all be accomplished without a pinched tip. A natural harmonious appearance  with balanced proportions is the goal.. In general a lot can be done with your nose, like adding cartilage graft to bridge and project tip with other grafts.I would caution on an alar base resection since the alar grove is nearly vertical, if the lower nostril is taken in, as in a Type III Weir, you may get a "bowling pin" deformity. Because the alar base is wide and the limiting factor, narrowing the bridge may exaggerate the width of the nasal base.

The nostrils can be narrowed by reducing the width of the nasal base. You can increase the length of your nose by placing a cartilage graft taken from your septum. A true profile picture and a picture from below would be helpful.
