I love my results, but after doing some more research, I've been seeing that Restylane Lyft is more commonly recommended for augmenting a weak chin (like the one I had before) - not Restylane Defyne. Does anyone know why my doctor thought to use Restylane Defyne instead of Restylane Lyft? Also, only 1cc of Restylane Defyne was used but I have teeth grinding at night and I exercise moderately quite often. Will this filler still last about 12 months as suggested? Thank you!
Answer: Restylane filler family (Defyne and Lyft) for chin and lower face filling There are several different fillers in the Restylane family, with Restylane Lyft and Restylane Defyne being the thicker and heavier products that give more volume and lift per cc of filler. Both are excellent in the chin area, and there is no wrong filler choice here. Each injector chooses which filler to use based on your anatomy, the way your muscles move, how much volume loss you have ,and what they feel is right for you. If you have very active muscles when you smile (and form funny little lines when you wiggle your chin) then Defyne is a fabulous choice because it tends to be more flexible and will bunch less with muscle movement in this area. I also find it tends to swell less than some other fillers in this area, so you see your end results more quickly. I love it in the chin and mouth area, but I use a lot of Lyft as well, especially when I need a lot more volume in older patients. You got a fantastic result. Stick with your doctor and trust they will choose the right product for you. This is art, not one size fits all. All the best, Dr. Lisa

Answer: Defyne for chin augmentation You look like you had a nice result from your injections and in my opinion your main concern should be your aesthetic outcome, which you seem very pleased with! There are many choices for dermal fillers on the market and every injector may have different preferences in what they prefer to inject depending on the treatment area and patient type. I can't speak to the rationale of why your injector may have used one filler over another as I don't know what their thought process was in the decision. Restylane Defyne has proved to be a very versatile filler that the injectors in my clinic really enjoy using. I think many consumers are too focused on the particular brand of dermal filler rather than the ultimate outcome of their treatment. Well trained and experienced injectors should tailor their treatment to each individual patient's needs and goals, using whatever product they feel will give the best result.
