Will this sharp look after dermal filler in chin go away? 1 day post op. (photos)

Question

I got dermal fillers in my chin today so that I would FINALLY get a jawline (yay!) and I got 2.5 syringes. I loved it at first but now I'm home and freaking out-- it looks so sharp? I can't decide if I need to get it removed with acid, or if this is mostly from swelling and will even out after a few days. Also wow it hurts but I think it's from having so much done at once. BOTTOM LINE: Will this still look so sharp after a few days? Does it look natural? h e l p please!

It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can last 1-2 weeks after filler injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Hello,Thank you for your question. Based on what can be seen in the picture and the amount you had, you are just experiencing swelling. You should wait about 2 weeks before deciding to change or dissolve anything. This will insure that all swelling has been resolved. Good luck!

You can apply gentle massage to the area in order to allow it to integrate into the tissue better for a more natural looking appearance.  Once the filler has been in place for a while and has time to settle, you should be pleased with your result.

I often inject the chin area to give it a finished "look" when the chin needs move volume and distinction.  I use both Juvederm and Voluma for this purpose. You are probably a little swollen but I think that you should be happy with the finished results.  Best, Dr. Green

I would give it at least 2 weeks before you make a decision about dissolving the filler or not. There is almost always some swelling associated with fillers and things should settle down, particularly if you liked the appearance of your chin immediately after the procedure. I would give it some more time. The beauty of hyaluronic acid fillers is that they are adjustable. If we have a bump or an irregularity (which is very uncommon), we can go back with a small enzyme injection called Vitrase (hyaluronidase) and make that bump go away almost immediately. I recommend following with your injector.

It has only been 1 day since your procedure, be patient. There is a lot of swelling post filler injection for a few days. Once the swelling goes away you can decide if you want the filler removed if you had hyaluronic acid based filler.

If you loved it at first, be patient. Hyaluronic acid based fillers will swell during the first 24-48 hours, and will then "settle down" over the next 2-3 weeks. I would wait at least two weeks before making any final judgements. Great news is that if you don't love it, it can be dissolved!Hope this helps!dr. silver

Hi emolie,To be honest, it does not look too sharp. You are probably just getting used to it. Also, the swelling is probably making it look worse than it really is. Wait about two week before deciding on dissolving it partially. Note that the amount of swelling has no bearing on the final results - so you can get a fair amount of swelling but end up looking fine.
