Question

At like 3 months or so can't remember, I saw hair falling due to shock loss. Starting on like month 5 I started to see a hairs on my hand when I touched my hair. Is this normal?

Shedding several months after a procedure is not uncommon.Additionally,under normal circumstances 50-75 hairs per day can be lost.Minoxidil and/or Finasteride may slow down or stop hair loss-you can discuss this with your physician.

It is normal to shed transplanted hairs weeks after surgery.  The new hairs may take 6 to 12 months to grow.

Postoperative shock loss can happen on occasion, but usually comes back after 3-4 months.  High risk patients are females.  We really don't know why this happens more commonly in females, but it does.  Patients who have higher density of hair and we are placing new hair very close to native hair are also higher risk to have shock loss.

In men, shock loss is not uncommon in men under 30 and the only way to prevent it is to take finasteride before the transplant gets done
