Can the vermillion border be augmented? (photo)

Question

I'm not looking to make my lips, bigger, or taller, I just want them to make them more sharp and stand out more from the normal skin. Is there any procedure to make my vermillion border more defined?

Yes, it is possible to augment the vermillion border.  There are a variety of fillers that could be used and the experience of the injector will make a difference in the outcome.

Thank you for your question.  You can definitely inject filler in the vermilion border to enhance the shape of your lips.  Using a softer product like Volbella can enhance the shape of your lip without adding a lot of volume.

Thanks for your question.  Injection along the vermillion border and lifting the frenulum is an excellent way to enhance the look of the lip without making them too big.  From looking at your picture it appears it would work well.  I either use Juvederm Ultra or a thinner Juvederm Volbella depending on what the needs are.  If you get it done, ask for a lip nerve block as this will completely numb the upper lip and make the experience better.  Hope this helps.

Hi there.  I am aware of no surgical intervention to improve the vermilion border.  I think cutting along it to better define it would be much too risky.  I would look into either low volume filler in the white roll to help improve the vermilion border or potentially having a medical or aesthetic tattoo artist have a look and see if they can offer any improvement. Probably the best approach is to have small amounts of filler injected along the Vermilion border. This will add volume to the extent that it is a volume-based treatment but in comparison to a full lip augmentation which is typically between a .75 mL to 2 mL you could probably have this done with .25-.5 ml.You can always add more filler. I personally like using Voluma and lips because it lasts substantially longer. I personally I'm not a fan of fat transfer in comparison to fillers. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.

Injection of a hyaluronic acid preparation (juvederm, hylaform, restylane, etc.) directly into the vermillion will increase its definition.
Seek advice from a board certified plastic surgeon.
