hi, I would say the most hydrophilic in the Juvederm family is likely Juvederm ultra XC. In the restylane family, it is probably Restylane Silk. I think the most appropriate fillers for lips are Juvederm ultra but for a more subtle result you can try Juvederm Volbella. It does not cause as much swelling as ultra or silk. Again, make sure to visit an experienced facial surgeon for best results.
Hi,The restylane line tends to cause a little more swelling immediately post-injection but it resolves in about 48 hours. Best,
I have injected both Juvederm and Restylane fillers in the lips. I find the Retylane Refyne to be the best for lip augmentation. It does some swelling (usually about 24 hours) but, but overall, I think it causes less swelling than Juvederm and gives a getter result. On the spectrum of Flexibility vs. Stiffness, Restylane Refyne is very flexible, making it a good choice for the lips. I wouldn't use it for building up cheeks or addressing nasolabial folds. For those areas, I personally prefer Radiesse (a calcium hydroxyappetate filler, not a hyaluronic acid.) Another interesting option for lips: Belotero. If someone wants definition to the edge of their vermilian border or just a juicier, moister look to the lip without large volume added, I choose Belotero. I hope that helps.
Thanks for your question. In the Allergan family, Juvederm Ultra and Ultra plus have been primarily used in the lips. With Volbella and Vollure, we have other options to place in the lips. Volbella and volume are both less hydrophilic than Juvederm Ultra and Plus. Vollure will attract some swelling but the benefit is it lasts for 18 months.
Hello FromWithin,Juvederm as a whole tends to pull in more water than a comparable amount of Restylane. In my opinion this leads to a much softer overall feel when injected into the lips. When injected appropriately this leads to a very natural appearing lip. I hope this helps and good luck.
Thanks for your question. Both fillers are NASHA type and very hydrophylic. In the lip one would prefer to avoid post-op injection swelling by using cross linked sheet type fillers. In the US this would be Vobello. In Canada other options exist such as Teosyl Kiss, Belotero Lips and Stylage S. They are advanced pre- swollen fillers. FDA approval is pending though. Hope this helps.
I like the Juvederm Volbella in the lip. Very minimal swelling, mostly from just the trauma of a needle stick. Vobella is injected with a smaller needle as compared to Juvy Ultra so not as much needle trauma. I also use Juvederm Ultra XC for the pencil thin lips but the swelling is a little more but is short lived. Hope this helpsDr. ODell
I believe that Juvederm is more hydrophilic. I prefer Restylane products for lips but not Silk. Sil does not last as long and does cause more swelling then other products in Restylane family
The most popular filler in my clinic when treating the lips is Restylane Refyne. I find swelling is minimal from this procedure outside of the first few days after treatment. Of course, to a degree, all HA fillers are hydrophilic since HA tends to attract water molecules.
From the Juvederm family : you can use Vollure or Volbella. From the Restylane family : you can use Restylane or Restylane Kysse. There maybe a bit of swelling for 1-2 days, occasionally. The needle sticks, on their own, can cause swelling
Thank you for your question, dermal fillers usually set from 24-48 hrs. However, each provider has different precautions so it’s best you contact your surgeon. Best of luck!
