Silicone in lips? I have a lump on my lip (Photo)

Question

In July 2017, I went to a licensed plastic surgeon to get my lips done. It’s been almost two years and I still have a lump on my lip. I have done some research and have come to the conclusion it may be silicone. It feels firm to the touch and has a white ish color. I believe he said he put juvederm. He injected all over my lips but my right side is the only side with a lump.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  If silicone there is little you can do except to make an incision and possibly drain the product.  If your injector did use a Juvederm product than it could be dissolved with a single injection in his/her office.  Hope this helps.

The juvederm can persist as a nodule. It can be removed by lancing the mucosa. It can also be remove with enzyme. The injecting surgeon should have detailed records. Request them. Find an injector you are comfortable with. Dermatologists probably do far more lip treatments than plastic surgeon. Find one who can help you. They tend to be a little more user friendly in my opinion.

If the surgeon said he injected Juvederm he injected Juvederm which would be absorbed after a year and a half and your lump may be a number of possiblilties like a sebaceous cyst or granuloma or something else. If you had silicone it is there for your lifetime unless you cut out the area of lip it was injected in. If it is enlarging or is tender or just bothers you go back to that surgeon or another surgeon for consultation and possibly excision/

You may either have a small mucocele or a granuloma after filler injection.  Both are treatable but I would recommend visiting a board certified plastic surgeon for an examination.

The best next step would be a physical exam with a plastic surgeon.  Juvaderm generally does not last longer than 18months.  A plastic surgeon could determine if this is silicone or something else.
