I have very minimal body fat, with just a small pocket under my chin. There isn't that much there, but I would like to have a sharp jaw line. Would kybella do this for me? And do the number of treatments depend on how much fat there is, i.e. because there isn't much fat would 1-2 treatments be enough?
Answer: Kybella can make a better jawline by reducing a double chin by dissolving the fat in the neck All patients desiring Kybella in my practice are seen by me for an examination to ensure they're a candidate. As long as the fat is above the thin platysmal muscle and not below it, then most people are found to be candidates. I never have had a patient who even if having a good response from one treatment wouldn't have benefited by at least two and most, three Kybella treatments, which are done about 5 weeks apart. Patients are to avoid blood thinners prior to the injections and the doctor discusses the alternatives, benefits and risks. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice. Answer: Kybella and Tripollar Radiofrequency for the neck I like treating the neck with a combination of Kybella and Tripolla radiofrequency for the neck. Kybella destroys fat cells by dissolving them on contact. Localized bruising, pain and swelling are noted. No additional skin tightening occurs. Tripollar radiofrequency causes fat cells to release their fat and also tightens skin. This combination is great to decrease the number of tretaments needed to address your concerns. I would recommend you have one dose of kybella (2 vials) with a treatment of tripollar 1 week before and 3 weeks after your kybella for best results. You can then re-evaluate at the 1 month mark if you need more kybella or if you are satisfied with results. Ultimately, find a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon or Plastic Surgeon in your area that you are comfortable discussing your goals and expectations with and schedule your appointment.

Answer: Kybella Candidate Thank you for the question. Yes it appears you would be a suitable candidate for Kybella. Kybella is FDA approved for treatment of a "double chin" or submental fullness. We inject Kybella, a synthetic version of naturally occurring deoxycholic acid, below the skin. It dissolves and removes the excess fat. You’ll see some results after the first treatment, but to get the best results, we recommend two to five treatments. As always, an in-person consultation with a board certified dermatologist with cosmetic training is the best way to assess your needs and provide medical advice.

Answer: Kybella Treatment Based on your photos, I believe you would be a good candidate for Kybella. With your minimal amount of fullness under the chin, you would probably be happy with the results after 1-2 treatments. I recommend setting up a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to create a plan. Kybella does typically cause swelling for 1-4 weeks post treatment, we usually see our patients having the most swelling in the first week after treatment so you will want to schedule accordingly.

Answer: Kybella Candidate to Sculpt Jaw Line Thank you for the detailed question and corresponding photo. Based on the photo, you like like you may be a good candidate for Kybella, an injection for patients looking to sculpt their jaw line. Most patients require 3-4 sessions of Kybella spaced about a month apart to see results. You might get some improvement after 1-2 sessions but for the optimal result I would expect to get at least 3 treatments. I recommend seeing an expert injector in-person for a consultation to discuss your goals and expectations. At our practice we also provide consults via FaceTime or Skype for patients who live outside of NY. For more information please visit our webpage.
