Swelling after lip fillers is very common an quite dramatic in the first 24-48 hours. Apply cold compresses regularly after lip fillers to lessen swelling. Wait at least 10 days before judging the full effect from lip fillers. Thankfully, if areas are still nodular or too large, these can be dissolved in as little as a few hours with hyaluronidase.
Thank you for your question and photographs. Swelling after Juvederm is common, especially so in the lips as their tissues are thin. I would recommend cold compresses/ice to the lips to help minimize swelling, as well as sleeping with your head elevated at night. It may take 2-4 weeks for your swelling to resolve and your filler to soften. If you do not like your results after this time, best to have your juvederm dissolved with hyaluronidase. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the question. Lips can swell following injection of Juvederm in the lips. It typically resolves in a few days. Cold compresses can hasten recovery. See your injector if it persists.Good luck,
Yes, it is perfectly normal to experience swelling after Juvederm lip injections. It’s nothing to panic about. Apply ice to the treated area. Wait two weeks for the swelling to go completely down before evaluating your final results, and if you are unhappy with your results at that time, you can consider having the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase.
I always tell my patients to not love their fillerinjections for 2 weeks. Swelling is very common and sometimes immediate. It canlast 3-7 days and a good idea is to use cold compresses. Cold compresses may beused immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. This may beapplied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is best donewith a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to the area butgentle massage might be necessary if the bump is from the filler materialitself. Get Arnica gel if you can find some and apply a few times a day as wellto help treat any swelling. Avoid any blood thinners. Bruising can also last1-2 weeks. I don't recommend hyaluronidase this early and wait a few weeks untilthe swelling has resolved. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up afollow up appointment with your dermatologist.
Thank you for your question. The picture unfortunately suggests overfill in the upper lip. However, this may be something that you requested because there are patients, that on occasion, like this look. I would wait 7-14 days for the swelling to subsize and bruising resolves and seek dissolution with Vitrase.Dr Karamanoukian#RealSelf100 Member
Swelling is part of the normal process after lip injections. However I don't believe your lips will subside to a point that you are happy. Too much was injected into upper lip. The ratio is wrong. The upper lip should be smaller by a ratio of 1:1.61. It looks like it is twice the size of the lower. To get natural looking lips the normal ratios must be abided and the lower lip needed injection. It looks like little to none was injected in lower.
YES. This is normal. I like Dr Devani's analogy of not loving your lips for two weeks! I might use that phrase in my consults. Swelling is seen in almost all cases of Juvederm or Restylane to lips. It typically last 10 days or so, so do NOT panic. It is vitally important to inform patients that it take up to 2 weeks before the swelling goes down. So be patient, the be re assessed at the two week mark. All the bestDr Davin LimLaser and aesthetic dermatologistBrisbane, Australia.
I suggest you go back in to be seen. This likely is just bruising and subdermal needle marks but you could have vascular compromise that needs topical nitroglycerine and oral aspirin. Oral arnika forte can help speed up healing. Best, Dr. Emer.
I have found that stimulants do affect fillers and make them dissolve quicker (the HA type fillers) just like my patients who exercise and diet who lose fillers more quickly. Best, Dr. Emer.
This may be scar tissue and would need steroid/5FU injection. you may have a facial tract where the filler is migrating through. Id suggest speaking to a expert injector. Best, Dr. Emer.
