Thanks for your question. Every plastic surgeon has their own instructions for postoperative procedures for patients to follow. In this case, I recommend that you follow up with your surgeon to see what they would advise given specific circumstances of your operation.
After facial surgery, patients always want to know ‘when can I wear makeup to try to hide the bruising and the scars?’ It definitely depends on what surgery was done and how you are healing. After a rhinoplasty you will have stitches under the nose (on the columella) and a splint across the top of the nose to control the swelling. These remain in and on for about a week- while those are around you could put makeup under your eyes to cover any bruising that comes from breaking the nose. After the splint is off and the stitches are out you can put makeup on the nose, but just not where the stitches came out right away. A couple days after the stiches are removed the tiny holes in the skin seal up and then you can put makeup across there too. The problem with wearing makeup too early is that there can be contaminants and irritants in the products that can get into the incisions and cause infection. The wounds have to be totally sealed before they can tolerate being covered with cosmetics.
Applying makeup 3 months following rhinoplasty surgery should not pose a problem, as long as you are careful to avoid using too much pressure. In fact, once the splint is removed about a week after the surgery, some light makeup can help camouflage bruising. Plastic surgeons have their own recovery protocols, so it's best to ask your surgeon what he or she recommends.
Thank you for your question.Every plastic surgeon has their own set of post operative instructions that they recommend for their patients to follow. Please refer back to these instructions. In our office we do allow patients to wear make up once their splints are off and incisions are healed. Hope this is helpful.
Thank you for your question. You should be able to apply make up gently, once the splint has been removed.
Thanks for your question. I generally let my patients wear makeup after the cast and tape are removed, usually a week out from surgery. You do have to be gentle when you apply it and remove it initially. If it's uncomfortable, you need to be more gentle. Good luck!
Hello and thank you for your question,Wearing makeup 3 months after surgery should be completely fine as long as there are no open incisions still left, which at this point everything should be completely healed.
Chantel19, The timing to resume makeup and other topical skin products largely depends on the type of rhinoplasty and incisions used. For closed rhinoplasty, patient's can apply make up softly after external splint has been removed. For open rhinoplasty this is similar, but could keep any irritating products off of the incisions. If alar reduction is performed special care may need to be taken to help these incisions hide/heal as much as possible. At 3 months, you should be safe to wear makeup.
Returning to school 5 days after rhinoplasty is possible, but your classmates and instructors may be curious about your appearance. The splint typically remains on your nose for about a week, and most patients take 7 to 10 days off of work or school. It's also important to be careful to not have...
With the nose, you can't just simply cut off the bottom of the nose. However, the cartilage can be reshaped and strengthened so that the tip is no longer droopy and doesn't fall when you smile either. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.
A haircut should wait until the splint is off. If you have stitches along the base or columella, you may want to avoid shaving until those are removed, and then do it very carefully so as not to disturb the incision.
