I have school starting 5 days after my surgery, I really don't want to miss my first week of school, is it possible if I just went to class and kept it easy?
Answer: Going Back to School 5 Days After a Rhinoplasty I believe that you can go to school so long as it is not too stressful and you stay away from any physical activity, as you do not want to elevate your blood pressure if it is not absolutely necessary. However, the decision is fully dependent on your comfort level, both physically and socially. Depending on the type of Rhinoplasty you plan to undergo, after 5 days you may still be in some pain/discomfort, or have residual bruising and swelling. If you are comfortable braving the pain, and do not mind being in a cast or bruised in public, then by all means go for it. In regards to your bruising, our practice has an in-house medical spa that offers assistance with camouflaging and concealing post-op bruising, so I would ask if your surgeon offers something similar.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hi, Thank you for your post. Usually my patients stay in a cast for the first week. I do not really see a problem with the patient going to their first day of school as long as it does not involve any strenuous activities or sports. However, I would follow up with your plastic surgeon to see what their post up instructions would be for you.

Answer: Recovery after rhinoplasty Most physicians value education beyond all other pursuits, and will therefore advise attendance unless it's obvious to you on that fifth day post-op that going to class would in some way be detrimental. Typically, you should be able to comfortably accomplish a school starting routine. Use acetaminophen or ibuprofen if necessary for comfort. Swelling beginning to resolve by day 5. Focusing on class instead of your nose will likely be beneficial to your recovery.

Answer: It’s Possible, but Expect Some Questions Returning to school 5 days after rhinoplasty is possible, but your classmates and instructors may be curious about your appearance. The splint typically remains on your nose for about a week, and most patients take 7 to 10 days off of work or school. It's also important to be careful to not have your nose bumped inadvertently.
