Is it safe to have Juvaderm fillers for hollows and dark circles under eyes when suffering from Sjogrens Snydrome?

I have hollow eyes with terrible dark circles, my Doctor has suggested I go for juvaderm fillers. I have recently been diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome. Since then my hollows have gotten worse. Would it be safe to proceed with the treatment? Thank you in advance Rushita

The quick answer is yes you are fine to get fillers to the rear trough with SS.  Only issue that I bring up to patients with autoimmune type of problem is that they may not last quite as long.  There are many fillers that make good choices for this location but my recent go to filler is Volbella.  Good luckHope his helps.

You can still have fillers with the Sjogrens.  However, the Juvederm products are not good for this area as they attract a lot of water and can create edema that can last many months.   Better options are Restylane or Belotero.

It is safe for you to get Juvederm with Sjorgens Syndrome. That being said, be sure to discuss with your provider the best filler suited to treat the area you hope to treat.  Just be sure to let your provider know about your Sjorgens Syndrome beforehand and you should have nothing to worry about.

Great question - I do not inject clients with autoimmue conditions where layers of the native collagen are affected. This may trigger an allergic response from the HA fillers due to molecular mimicry. I advise you consult with Rheumatologist and local exerpt Injector

Sjogren’s Syndrome is not a known contraindication for treating with dermal fillers.  I would advise a formal consultation with your experienced injector regarding which dermal filler is best to place in the tear trough region.  I prefer using Restylane in this area over Juvederm as Juvederm in this area can lead to undesirable side effects such as swelling.  Best of Luck!

recommend dermal fillers, specifically hyaluronic acid based fillers. 
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in your body and HA based fillers are also
reversible.  It is difficult to assess properly without an in person
consultation, but typically dermal fillers work really well for most
everyone.  However, Sjorgren's syndrome is not a contraindication for receiving treatment.
I recommend an in person consultation with a board certified provider.

Yes, you can have fillers to improve the look of the tear trough area, but a discussion with your injector is needed to determine the appropriate filler for you.  The treatment is done in the office and the results can last up to one year, depending on the selected filler.  It will take about two weeks for you to see your final results after injection.

Yes, you can have treatment with an HA based filler. I would not recommend Juvederm under the eyes because of issues with chronic swelling. My preferred filler for the tear troughs is Restylane.

As long as you go to a trained injector and which does eye troughs then you should be fine, Juvéderm hyaluronic acid hasn’t shown any contraindications with your condition, I do however recommend Restylane-L for troughs.
