I got Juvederm lip injections yesterday - are these post results normal or did the nurse inject in the wrong areas? (photos)

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  I am sorry to hear of your difficulties after filler placement but rest assured these symptoms will all get better over the next 10 days.  It often takes up to 2 weeks for fillers to soften and the tissues to appear more natural.  In the meantime try reducing the swelling by using cold compresses to your lips and elevating your head at night with a couple of extra pillows behind your back.  You may want to also consider using Arnica Montana and bromelain as supplements.  Because I do think that the lump is sizable underneath your cupids bow I would apply a small amount of pressure between your thumb and index finger to the deposit to help it soften and dissipate.  Hang in there!

Thank you for your question and I appreciate your concern. Let me assure you that bruising and swelling are fairly common side effects of injections in the sensitive area of the lips. It is very possible what you are experiencing will subside without intervention within a couple of weeks. However, if you don’t see improvement by that time, a follow-up with your injector is warranted. If your results don’t go as planned, you can dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase. Always work with a board-certified, experienced doctor for your lip injections to ensure an optimal outcome.

It is likely that is what you are experiencing right now. I would use ice and gentle massage to bring down the swelling. This should also reduce any post-treatment discomfort you might be experiencing. 
Give yourself about one to two weeks for the swelling to subside and the treatment area to heal fully. At this point, you should see a lip size and shape that is more natural and proportionate to your other facial features. If you are still unhappy with your results at the two-week mark, it is time to schedule a follow-up with your injector. Fortunately, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if they don’t produce the outcome you want.

Bruising and swelling are fairly common after lip injections.  How much you bruise or swell can vary from person to person.  I would recommend returning to your injector for an evaluation, two weeks from your injection, if you have an unsatisfactory outcome. There can be some swelling and unevenness after lip injections which can last 1-2 weeks. You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling and even out irregularities. If you're unhappy with your final results you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

It appears that some of the product must have hit a nerve and the result is all of the bruising and bleeding.  The bruising will go away in a few weeks and you will see the results of the Juvederm injections.  Please consult an expert in lip injections for the best cosmetic results. Bruising and swelling are common after lip injections and can persist up to two weeks.  It is best to wait until after that time to judge your final results.  If you still have concerns after two weeks return to your injector for an evaluation.

It can take 1-2 weeks after filler to see the final results. If there is a lot of swelling, a very brief course of prednisone (oral medicine) can be helpful. You should go back to see your injector if you have questions. Without a photograph of the lips prior to the treatment, it is difficult to tell you what was done right and what was done not so right. But from the look of the final outcome it looks like you have a good result. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City

Your injector injected way too inside of your lips. The filler material was placed in the inner lip and that’s why the lip is flipping up and outward. Massage your upper lip against your lower lip daily. That will dissipate the bruising. Bruising and the intraoperative pain is from hitting your blood vessel. Glad you didn’t bleed more or swell up more.
