Heavy lip filler lumps. Will they be resolved after 2 weeks? (Photo)

Question

I got my lip fillers 1 week ago and my lower lip is still lumpy, uneven and there is a lumpy stripe (about 10 mm length) on the left vermillion border. I've been icing a lot and massaging them gently. It was showing a decrease on the 2nd and 3rd days but since then they haven't subsided at all. They are in the same shape. Is it normal? Will they be completely resolved?

Feeling bumps in the lips after filler is very common.  Massaging the lips can help even out the lumps. In some cases, the bumps can be improved by removing filler from those areas using either manual extraction techniques or hyaluronidase injections to dissolve the filler.  I always recommend speaking with the doctor who performed the injections about any questions or concerns.

Dermal Fillers may result in lip lumps but should be rare. Massaging the area may resolve the lumpiness . After vigorous massaging a physician may inject Hyaluronidase to soften the area . The Hyaluronidase should resolve the issue.

Judit1978.  I appreciate your concern, however unevenness or small bumps can occur after lip augmentation and they may resolve with massage over the next two weeks. Any further asymmetry or small bumps can easily be treated with hyaluronidase. Your bumps are not too bad and I recommend that you follow up with your injector for further observation and treatment.

Your photos do indicate some swelling and/or lumps. However, it can take up to two weeks for all swelling to subside and for the product to completely settle into place. Keep an eye on it for another week or so. If you still don’t notice an improvement, talk to your provider about possible solutions. Was this a hyaluronic acid filler? If so, it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Best of luck!

These bumps tend to resolve over several weeks.  However, if they remain bothersome after 3-4 weeks, they can easily be dissolved by injection of hyaluronidase.

Thnakyou for your question. You have done all te right things. In my experience after 7 days the lumps will not disappear and will need to be dissolved. the product may have been placed a little too superficially. I suggest you return to your injector and this can be flattened out by dissolving some of the filler.good luck

Many thanks for your question. Lumps after lip fillers are sometimes felt but not seen and these typically go within a couple of weeks. If you are still experiencing visible lumps that you are not happy with I would advise to go back to your injector and see if they can dissolve with the reversal agent.

After filler injection in the lip, massaging should be done until the lip feels smooth with no bumps or lumps. It is unlikely that massaging at this time will smooth out the lumps. Go back to the doctor who injected your lips and ask him to correct the problem. If the filler was a hyaluronic acid product, the lumps can be removed with hyaluronidase. If not, there is nothing that can dissolve the filler.

Hi Judith1978, The lump is most likely caused by the fillers. At 1week, it may still resolve on it's own, or you can apply digital pressure to force the lump to disperse and move inwards, or you can see your injector so he/she can do it for you. If it still persist after 1 month, Hyaluronidase Injection can be done is you used HA based filler
