Is this normal bruising after lip injections?

I had 1ml Revolax fillers today in a clinic that had rave reviews and even my friends had been there but none of them experienced this amount of bruising and I’m really worried. I sent a picture to the lady that did the injections and she replied saying that it was ‘normal’ but I can’t help but feel really concerned

The short answer to your question is YES.Bruising after lip filler injections is very common, and in fact, it's rare to get no bruising at all.If you were my patient and you got this type of bruising, I would have you put 50% DMSO on your bruise every 2 hours.  The DMSO opens extra blood vessels in your lip which will allow more white blood cells to come to that area and carry away the free hemoglobin pigment which makes up the visual portion of your bruise.  It also is a fantastic anti-inflammatory, therefore taking away much of the swelling.  Normally, without any topical intervention, these bruises and swollen areas will resolve in about 10 days.

Bruising is normal after lip injections.  Ice after the procedure helps for the first 3 days.  Sometimes a laser can help speed along the process.

Thank you for your question. Bruising after lip fillers is extremely common. I would always advise patients to avoid alcohol the day before the procedure and following the procedure for a couple of days. Avoid medications such as anti inflammatory medications (Nurofen). Cold compress for 48 hours may help and then swap to warm compress. You could also use arnica which will help with the bruising. If you have any concerns then see your medical practitioner for a face to face review.

Yes, bruising is very common after lip fillers and can look dramatic. Patients nor doctors like this but unfortunately in an area so vascular can be hard to avoid. Plenty of ice and time should do the trick. Arnica is also helpful. Try to avoid aspirin and similar products also.

Hello. Based on your photos, it does look like you’re experiencing some significant bruising and swelling, but this is not uncommon. Everyone will respond differently to lip fillers, so don’t be alarmed if your friends didn’t get the same bruising as you’re experiencing. I would recommend waiting a few days to see if these side effects begin to clear up on their own. If they remain the same or get worse, contact your provider right away. Keep in mind that it can take up to two weeks to see your final outcome from lip fillers.

Patients and the doctors alike don't like when bruises occur but unfortunately this is part of the procedures in some patients. This is just a regular bruise which will resolve overtime. Good luck from New York City

Bruising is faily common after lips injections. The amount and severity of bruising will vary greatly between  patients and even from one session to the next for the same person. Icing and Arnica will help. All the best, Dr Michon

Bruising after lip injections happens in a majority of cases. You have a bit more than normal but it isn’t vascular occlusion. I would take arnica and bromelain to improve resolution. It can take up to 10 days. If any concern, go in for a visit with the injector.

It is very common to have some bruising following lip injections.   Icing for a couple of days usually helps.
