That is an excellent question. Unless the surgeon n takes steps to avoid this, the hair line can be elevated significantly due to upward tension. Anchoring the lower skin is one solution but is not completely successful and does not tighten the mons area which is often relaxed. I keep the incision low by excising some of the pubic hair skin to keep the hairline even under tension. The trade off is that there is sometimes a short vertical scar where the site of the old umbilicus was pulled down.
There will be upward tension on the lower skin with a tummy tuck procedure. However a properly placed incision should not significantly elevate the pubic hair line. The upper abdominal skin is elevated and advanced for closure. The lower skin is relatively anchored in place. Discuss these details with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes!
Hello, yes a tummy tuck can result in a higher pubic hair line due to elevation of the pubic mound. However, if a person has a large pubic mound sometimes it is possible to remove some of the mound and hair-bearing skin to avoid this problem. Your surgeon should be able to give you some idea of the final scar location.
Thank you for posting your interesting question. A tummy tuck can be designed with a low incision that is concealed in your bikini or usual Victoria Secret underwear. It is important to express your concern to your plastic surgeon at the time of your consultation. The design of the tummy tuck is very important. Many surgeons start the incision too high and as a result, the final tummy tuck incision goes too high over time. I recommend that you have a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is experienced with tummy tucks .At the time of your consultation, you will have a detailed history and physical exam, discuss your goals and surgical options and reviewing dozens of the plastic surgeon's before and after tummy tuck results. Best wishes, Richard Wellington Swift, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Removal of tissue in a tummy tuck will result in a scar between the upper and lower incision sites. This may elevate the pubic hairline. A skilled Plastic Surgeon will spend time designing the incision to keep it as low as possible in the midline.
Thank you for your question. When performing a tummy tuck the dissection is performed from the incision on the lower abdomen up to the xiphoid process. There is minimal, if any dissection below the incision. When you suture the areas together there will be a pull on the mons upward due to tension, but it is minimal. However, if someone came into my office with a large amount of skin redundancy and the mons was drooping as well, some dissection could be made in that direction, and deep sutures placed to get a strong upward pull to move it back up to where it "belongs". I would recommend discussing your preference with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon when in your consult. Good luck and best wishes!
Hi thank you for your question. They are not normally associated. It is unlikely your tummy tuck contributed to the development of a hernia in the inguinal region. Best wishes.
Stretch marks occur during periods of rapid growth, which stretches the skin, AND a hormonal change. While the skin is pulled tight with a tummy tuck, there isn't usually any hormonal change that is occurring and thus NEW stretch marks will not occur.
I do not believe that your temp is due to the compression garment.I have never seen this in 40 years.I would favor say a urinary tract infection.
