Is it possible to reverse weir excision on nostrils?

Unfortunately alar plasty or nostril reduction is an irreversible operation.The use of small local flaps to enlarge the nostrils and wide and them by the amount of scarring is unacceptable with that surgery.RegardsDr. J

Hi.  Reversing alar base reduction is complex.  It is done using composite cartilage and skin graft from the ear to the base of the nose.  If your nose is over projected, then deprojecting it can flare out the nostrils a bit and adding curved rim grafts can also help.  Hard to say without seeing you but just know that it is a complex issue.  

Weir excisions can be reversed through the use of composite cartilage-skin grafts taken from the ear and inserted into the nostril-nasal base junction to restore the tissue that was removed during the Weir procedure.  This will reshape the nostrils similar to their shape before the Weir excisions but carries the risk of a tissue and color mismatch.  In addition, the scars will still be present.Mario J.
