I had PRP Microneedling ("vampire facial") done on my face today. The nurse told me to wait until tomorrow morning to wash my face, but it is covered in dried blood. I am really not supposed to wash that off until 24 hours later? Is this normal?
Answer: Instructions after Vampire facial Thank you for the question and posting the photos. The pure form of PRP should not have any red blood cells in it. Its golden yellow color. A little bit of red blood cell sneaking in is not going to make the treatment bad. Microneedling alone can produce some pin point bleeding points based on the depth used. PRP used will reach the deeper layers of the skin thru the microneedled gaps or micro injuries so to speak. The PRP also has anti-infective properties and leaving the dried part on your skin is not going to predispose you to infection. If the dried blood looks too obvious, and after about at least 6 hours and preferably after 12 hours, its okay to gently wash off. There is no generally agreed upon consensus as to how long it should be left on. However long it is, there is no harm. But you don't need to keep it on for 24 hours.

Answer: Vampire facial The Vampire Facial will leave some dried blood on the face. The microneedling will cause punctate bleeding to create the channels through which the PRP can enter the skin. The PRP is straw colored. It is rare for infection in the head due to the large amount of blood flow and oxygenation for a short period especially. We ask our patients to leave the PRP and sometimes even continue to apply extra PRP for the hour following a couple of times at home in some cases then wash gently before bed.
