What is the best way to get rid of smokers lines above the lips without using derma fillers or botox?

Keep in mind that lip lines are a multi faceted problem:1.  volume loss of deep soft tissue2.  muscle animation3   brittle skin4.  resorption of bony structuresThe best result in treatment are achieved by address each of these problems.  In the absence of fillers and Botox, your best approach is to go with resurfacing the skin to make it more supple and soft and to build in some regenerative capacity with PRP by injecting it into the deep tissue as well as from the surface with microneedling.  This will stimulate growth of fat, elastin, collagen and extracellular matrix, as well as hylaluronic acid.  Other surface treatments that are cost effective and clinically successful are microdermabrasion with a chemical peel.Good luck!Ellen Mahony, MD

Hi and thank you for your question. Our office is having a great deal of success with PRP. "Platelet Rich Plasma". PRP can be prepared to resemble a filler by utilizing a heat machine. We use Dr PRP machine that changes the consistency of the PRP. When placed into the lips you can see the vomlumization and softening of the vertical lines. The beauty of this technique is that it is YOUR  products that we inject into your tissues. No foreign substances. Good luck to you should you choose to pursue this treatment.

To improve the "smokers lines" or barcode lines, lasers, Infini, and microneedling are effective. Keep in mind that these lines are difficult to eradicate, so set your goals on improvements. Often the problem is caused by volume loss so these do need volume replacement in most cases. Fat can be transferred to this area for a longer lasting/natural improvement. Nanofat seems to give the best results for this. I would expect minimal improvements using the Vampire Facial for this area.

Skin resurfacing yields a longer lasting result than botox or fillers but results are far from immediate.  Sublative radiofrequency with platelet rich plasma (PRP) is what we use but laser is another option.  Skin care is essential to maintain and improve results.  If you wish not to pursue that route PRP with microneedling is a viable alternative.  A series of either will be necessary depending on severity. 

Hi there. The PRP from your own blood stimulates your own body to produce cells to reduce or even eliminate those fine lines.   A certified Vampire Facelift physician can determine if this is the right option for you, but for the limited information you provided, I say absolutely yes.

There is still hope for those who want to erase smoker's lines without fillers or Botox. You can have chemical peels which literally peels away the outer layers of the skin and induces collagen growth.You can also opt for laser resurfacing and microneedling with PRP. It would really depend on the depth of the lines, the condition (tone and texture) of the surrounding skin.

I recommend PRP with a VIvace treatment (radiofrequency microneedling).  I have had good results with that.  Good luck.
