I had a problem with skin discoloration on my cheeks. They call it melasma. I have been treated in the past with another MD's with laser, skin peelers, creams but nothing works. I search for Dr. Phan in the hope that someday I will need her expertise since she has vast experience on eye surgery and treatment and application of fillers around the eyes. When she saw my melasma, she told me she will research furthermore since my treatment in the past did not work for me. Knowing my skin is very sensitive she formulate treatment that works for me . Dr. Laura Phan puts extra time to evaluate my needs. My questions are answered in a considerate and thoughtful manner like you are her own family. That's what I love about her.
Dr Phan was amazing with her consultation, her approach and aftercare! She cares about her patients and takes the time to ensure you get the best outcome. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Phan to anyone.
Both Restylane Lyft and Juvederm Voluma are appropriate products for cheek lift. I use both depending on the situation (i.e., duration desired, price point, other site injected with the same syringe, etc.) If you are looking for a longer duration, Voluma can last between 18 to 24 months. Good luck.
Neuromodulators, like Botox or Dysport, would be great for dynamic lines, including the horizontal ones across the forehead and the vertical ones between the eyebrows. It needs to be repeated every 3-4 months for full and lasting effect. For static lines, you may consider chemical peel, microneedling or laser resurfacing. Laser would be the most aggressive option. Since aging and sun exposure continue to affect the skin in spite of these modalities, you should consider a daily regimen of retinoid product, like RetinA, to exfoliate and stimulate collagen production; anti-oxidant to prevent and repair the UV damage; growth factor to stimulate collagen production; and topical hyaluronic acid to moisturize and plump the skin. Lastly, don't forget sunscreen of at least 30 SPF. Of note, if you are breastfeeding, there are no studies looking at the effects of neuromodulators on infants via breastmilk.
If the lump is the hyaluronic acid, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. You should have the injector evaluate this. Good luck.
The followings are the duration for different hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. The duration may vary depending on area of injection, product quality, amount use, or patient biological factor. Restylane Silk: 4 months Restylane: 6-9 months Restylane Lyft: 9-12 months Restylane Refyne and Defyne: 12 months Juvederm Ultra: 12 months Juvederm Volbella: 12 months Juvederm Vollure: 18 months Juvederm Voluma: 18+ months
For the scar, you may have hyaluronic acid dermal filler injected into the scar to elevate the depression of the scar. As for the two horizontal lines of the forehead, you may try neuromodulator injections (Botox or Dysport). Neuromodulator injections to the forehead muscles prevent them from contracting, which form the lines during muscle contraction. Both types of injections are widely used, safe and effective. Good luck.
