We usually recommend that patients hold off onthat kind of activity for 4 to 6 weeks after a tummy tuck and get back to it gradually.Have in mind that strain or a fall can create significant damage with bleeding, infection, and other with unnecessary complications, so go easy on yourself.Good luck.
This is a question you need to ask your surgeon. For my patients, I want them to wait 6 weeks before resuming any formal exercise, however, walking is good and I encourage that. Good luck.
Since every surgeon has his or her own unique post op protocol, you need to ask your surgeon. I typically have my patients wait 6 weeks before returning to exercise. My best,Dr. Sheila Nazarian@drsheilanazarian on Instagram
In my own practice I asked patients to avoid any athletic activity that targets the abdominal muscles for six weeks. Afterwards a gradually increase this type of activity so full recovery occurs at three months. However, you are not my patient and specific instructions about activity should come from your own surgeon.
Thanks for your question.Generally I have my patients refrain from physical activity and exercise at least 4 if not 6 weeks after a tummy tuck. With a tummy tuck the most common complications are hematoma or seroma formation. Resuming exercise to soon may cause this. I would check with your plastic surgeon for a timeline.Best of luck!
Thank you for your question. You will gradually build back up to your pre-surgery level of conditioning. I would check with your plastic surgeon regarding swimming and bicycle riding. I do not allow my patients to do any core/abdominal exercises until they are at least 6 weeks post-op. Hope this helps!
After a tummy tuck, both your incisions and the deeper structures withinyour abdomen need proper time to heal. During the first week following yourprocedure, engage in gentle activities around the house. Over the next severalweeks, you should be able to gradually increase your activity level to includelonger walks, but you’ll need to avoid vigorous activity or any movement thatimpacts your core. Around the 4 to 6 week mark, your incisions should havehealed well enough to permit you to enjoy swimming and you’ll be at a stage inyour recovery where biking and other more core-focused activities arepermitted.
It is commendable that you wish to return to exercise as soon as possible after surgery. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to determining the return to specific activities after the specific procedures performed. He/she will know exactly how you are progressing and whether or not you have experienced any complications. Remember, that he/she is ultimately responsible for your care. Having said that, I ask my tummy tuck patients to start walking ASAP after surgery but refrain from any heavy-lifting or strenuous exercise for 6-8 weeks to prevent complications and ensure proper healing. It may be 4-6 months before you reach your full energy and strength levels. Best to “go slow” and listen to your body as you gradually increase or activity level. Best wishes.
Thanks for your question and congrats on your new surgery. It all depends on the healing of your scar but typically activity can be resumed around 6 weeks post-operatively. Make sure to keep in close contact with your surgeon and specifically discuss this question while they review your wound healing. Thanks for your question. As long as you heal well, you should be able to bike and swim after 4-6 weeks post-op.Please visit your plastic surgeon to get his/her recommendation. Your plastic surgeon may have different post-surgical protocol; in addition, your plastic surgeon will make sure that you are properly healed prior to giving his/her clearance.Good luck with your recovery.
Thank you for your question. It is certainly possible to get complications from a tummy tuck months and even years after the performance of the operation. It is uncommon, but certainly possible. It sounds like you're describing an infected seroma, which is a pocket of fluid that is essentially...
Thank you for your question. In my practice, I ask my patients to remove all metallic piercings prior to surgery because of the risk of a burn if metal is in contact with your skin while there's an electric current between the cautery and grounding pad, especially if the grounding pad is not o...
Hi Kcenc,Thank you for the question. You will do very well with an abdominoplasty, plication of the rectus muscles and ultrasonic liposuction of the posterior lateral waist (the muffin top). That is likely what the surgeon was referring to.I suggest that you find a PS in your area that you are c...
