I'm 5 ft. 7 inches tall, my current weight is 148lbs. I tend to fluctuate between 140-150. My surgeon said it'd be great if I could lose 5lbs. because "he could get more and get me tighter, but that it's not a big deal if I don't." I'm thinking that I don't really want to be terribly tight, because my recovery might be easier, and can lose the 5 after my procedure, but what do I know. Should I lose the 5 lbs? Does it matter? Will it effect outcome or recovery either way?
Answer: No, won't make a difference I don't believe that five pounds more or less will make very much a different. Ten or twenty pounds might. Hope this helps. Always consult a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Best of luck.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Hello, Based on your goals, you may be good candidate for a full abdominoplasty. I recommend my patients be at their ideal body weight prior to surgery. Your extra 5 pounds shouldn't make a significant difference, if your surgeon is already comfortable with your BMI. Take care.

Answer: Tummy Tuck and Weight Loss Thank you for your question and photos. It appears you are an excellent candidate for tummy tuck surgery. I believe it is best to be within 5-10 pounds of your ideal body weight for optimal results. I would caution against planning to lose more than 10 pounds post-op as this could result in unwanted loose skin. Also, make sure you are finished having children prior to tummy tuck surgery as pregnancy will adversely effect your results. Hope this helps and good luck!

Answer: Either way, you probably need a lipoabdominoplasty. Without the benefit of a physical examination and a consultation in person, it is difficult to be specific, but from your photographs and the information you have provided, it appears that you would benefit from a lipoabdominoplasty or "combituck". All patients can expect a better long term result if they are at a stable weight when they undergo their body contouring surgery and the closer to ideal, the better. If you were to lose weight after your surgery, you might find that your result may loosen up a bit more than you would have hoped. That being said, as long as your expectations are realistic, you should hopefully end up with a significant improvement with which you are very satisfied. Make sure your plastic surgeon is board certified and experienced in body contouring surgery.Best of luck to you.

Answer: Does 5 lbs. make a difference either way? (photos) Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs. Five pounds will likely not affect the outcome of your surgery significantly but I do recommend delaying surgery until you have reached your goal weight - a weight that you are comfortable at and can maintain. This will ensure the best long-term results. Hope this helps.
