How long is face fat transfer recovery?

It really can depend on where and how much is injected. The eyes can stay puffy for a few days even over a week. If you bruise that can take a bit longer also.  There is also the question of what is acceptable to you. These days cosmetic procedures are much more accepted and many patients go back to work and just say I had some work done. Essentially, it is safe after 48hrs to return to work but you may be a bit swollen still. Usually a weekend. The swelling typically decreases after 24-48 hours. The area around the eyes may stay puffy for up to a week. Keeping your head elevated can help keep the swelling down. 

Thank you for your question. Recovery time from fat grafting depends on the volume of fat used and the area it is grafted to. In general, fat grafting can swell a significant amount for several weeks. We recommend that our patients try and keep their head elevated as much as possible during the immediate recovery period. Try and sleep on 2 pillows and do not use ice to treat the swelling. Talk to your surgeon about the specific plan for you and what those post op instructions would be for your surgery. Good luck!
