I am scared of implants and sliding genioplasty.. Is there an option for fat transfer to my labiomental fold and chin to fill the shadow gap and give me more vertical length on the chin and just a bit more horizontal projection for a better profile? I’d like a permanent fix without implants or bone cutting if possible!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
Answer: Fat in the right places You have many options. It is all about fat (or volume) in the right places. The key is Hot is HOT! It is about having the balance to create sharpness and shadows. Often times fat transfer or filler injection in conjunction with liposuction procedures is able to give a more “ideal” heart shaped face including adequate chin projection. This can make a significant difference in patients as a combo. We are able to create shadows and sharpness where you want it. Liposuction of the jawline and sculpting is helpful in some patients but the key in most young patients of normal weight is chin strength. It really depends on your specific anatomy. All of this can be done in clinic with some calming medications and local anesthesia. I recommend getting a consult with a surgeon who does this procedure frequently to get a full facial analysis to make sure your specific goals are addressed. Hope this helps. Best of luck. DrC

Answer: Chin implant vs. fat transfer This is a great question. You are not alone; many patients are fearful of an implant. Chin implants are very safe and very predictable but fat grafting is a very viable alternative for those patients reluctant to consider a chin implant. An advantage to fat grafting is that specific areas to improve can be targeted such as your labial-mental crease. I would recommend you see a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience in fat grafting. Thank you for your excellent question.

Answer: Fat transfer to chin and labiomental fold... Hi 2015JoyfulMama,I see what you're referring to and what you're trying to achieve. I believe that meticulously performed fat transfer may be able to achieve the look you are going for. The hardest part would be increasing the vertical length (too much fat might make the chin appear floppy), but filling shadows and increasing horizontal projection should be achievable.I recommend a consultation with a facial plastic surgeon very experienced in fat transfer.Best wishes,Dr. Jay

Answer: Chin and Labiomental Fold Fat Grafting Give what you want to avoid for chin and labiomental fold augmentation, fat grafting would be one option with synthetic injectable fillers as the other. Each as their own advantages and disadvantages with fat having the disadvantages of an unpredictability of survival/retention and difficulty with reversing it should its effect be undesired.

Answer: Facial fat transfer Thank you for your question. Fat grafting to the face is an excellent option to build up or fill depleted areas. The fat is taken from your own body and put through a very precise and delicate process to achieve the best result. During the process, the fat is separated into layers and only the best quality fat with the highest stemcell concentration is used. In our office we offer 3D imaging to give our patients an accurate idea of what their final result will look like. This allows our patients to work closely with our surgeon to achieve the best possible result. Good luck!
