I'm wondering about cleaning the chin strap after Liposuction.

I'm having upper blepharoplasty and submental lipo on the 15th. I am wondering about cleaning the chin strap. It must get kind of nasty, but we're supposed to wear it for many hours. Do most people buy a second chin strap? I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen this addressed anywhere.

I recommend everyone remove the garment to shower once each day.  During that time the garment can certainly be washed also.  If that means it's off for an hour or 90 minutes, it will be okay.  Don't stress too much about it.Good Luck!

I recommend that a compression garment be worn for 23 hours a day.  It is probably wise to get two garments for hygiene purposes.

Depending on the material used on the chin strap, it may be possible to wash or clean it.  You may also just ask your surgeon for an extra one as well.

You can buy 2 garments,but it is okay to take it off to clean it everyday which is better for hygiene purposes. Whatever you think is easier for you. Good Luck!

surgeon wants you to wear the compression garment for a specified amount of
time it is ok to take it off for a few hours while you wash it, purchasing
another garment is an option as well. Make sure you follow up with your surgeon
to be sure you are healing properly.

Hydrogen peroxide is the best  solution for cleaning blood  off of your chin strap. In our practice, we do not use any chin straps whatsoever, we use Jackson-Pratt drains that are left underneath the skin for 2 days after the procedure. These drains automatically remove the fluid/ blood with vacuum, so chin straps and head wraps are unnecessary.

I typically ask my patients to wear the chinstrap for the first 24 hours.After that, they they can take it off to wash it and wear it on and off for the next week. I typically encourage patients to wear it for at least 12 hours a day for the first several days.They are easy to wash. Get some hydrogen peroxide for any blood stains.
