I was advised in my 2nd month after Laser Lipo procedure for my chin area, to continue wearing my chin compression garment as long as I can. I have been wearing my compression garment during night for 5 months and was planning to wear until my expected final stage 6 months. Is this advisable?

Answer: Compression garment after lipo of chin It is unusual to require at the use of a compression garment 5 months after lipo of the chin. It is always advisable to follow the recommendations of your surgeon, but it is ok to ask what this is supposed to be accomplishing since it is not a common recommendation.I typically recommend 24/7 compression for less than a week, followed by night time compression for a few more weeks if well tolerated. I sometimes recommend massage for several months after surgery in the rare case that a patient has prolonged lumpiness. This usually resolves with massage and tincture of time.

Answer: Follow up with your surgeon Thank you for your question. The compression garment is very important to wear to help control any swelling that may occur. My suggestion is to follow up with your surgeon to make sure you are healing properly and find out the right amount of time to keep the garment on.
