- apparently high unsatisfactory rate - isolated change, no global effect on face - apparently can't give that natural and subtle look, rather observer knows that something is "off", but doesn't know what exactly - cheek implants apparently further emphasize eye hollows? - cheek implants seem to give that feminine, full, low-set and round cheekbone appearance, which is suited for women - over augmentation ("golf balls/sausages") - ability of masculine/chiseled/robust/sharp look at all?
Answer: I have weak midface. Should I think twice about getting implants? Hi, I have performed many cheek augmentations, over the past 30 years, using a dermal filler (I prefer Restylane Lyft) or with cheek implants for a permanent enhancement. If you have a weak mid face which is primarily the cheek area, cheek augmentation with a filler or cheek implants would shape and define the cheeks. Following the beauty principles outlined in my book on face and body beauty, men look ruggedly handsome with angularity in the cheeks, chin and mandibular angle. I am going by some of your comments and assuming that you are male. Angularity, in the cheeks, is created differently than full round cheeks (female ideal) in women whether using a dermal filler or implants. You however need to be certain that the plastic and cosmetic surgeon understands and follows the proper facial aesthetics in order to get that specific look. I have removed many cheek implants, placed elsewhere by other surgeons, that did not make the patient more attractive both male and female. I have found silastic cheek implants, placed through a small incision on the inside of the mouth, to be very safe, quick and highly effective at creating the proper aesthetic shape whether it be in a woman or a man. The emphasis must be on proper implants selection (size and shape) as well as proper placement within the cheek area. Hope this helps.
