Is getting cheek implants very painful?

No, having cheek implants is not
very painful. Pain medication is prescribed to take after surgery to help with
the recovery. There will be some swelling after as well but that decreases
within the first week.

 Cheek implants take approximately 30 minutes to do and cause only a slight amount of pain after. i use a long-acting anesthetic in the area so the patient has no feeling over the cheeks for approximately five hours. The average patient takes one or two painkillers that evening and rarely after that. The pain level is very low with this procedure properly done by an experienced surgeon. 

If you go to a well trained doctor this procedure does very well, but with any surgery there are potential complications and issues.  Fillers can give you the appearance of a cheek implant and in some instances a more natural one.  I suggest seeing a dermatologist or plastic surgeon who understands all the the intricacies of both procedures.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Most patients take a few pain pills the first night or 2 in order to get some sleep. Patients also experienced a moderate amount of puffiness and swelling in the cheek area that will last for 2 weeks after the procedure. The swelling from the implants does not affect talking, but it may be difficult to eat a large hamburger for the first week

Properly done cheek implants may cause some pain for a few hours after surgery but this is controlled with pain medication so the patient is comfortable in the post-operative period. Most patients are using Tylenol the day after the operation but they can continue to use stronger medication if necessary. By that time eating, talking, and brushing of the teeth is encouraged.

  Hi, I have performed many cheek augmentations using cheek implants and it's a quick, simple and safe procedure in the hands of an experienced surgeon.  The procedure typically takes 30 minutes or less.  I advise my patients to sleep on a U-shaped pillow for 1 month to avoid placing too much pressure on the cheeks.  Eating, speaking and brushing the teeth are really not an issue.  There is very little discomfort following the procedure.  Hope this helps.
