I had a consultation with a Dr for an autologous breast augmentation with a lift and he said that I won’t lose size and will have more volume with this technique. Another dr told me that I will lose size with a breast lift but he did not offer this technique. Any insight would be appreciated. I have a smaller chest, but am happy with the size. My concern is loss of volume and my aerola size. I would like to stay away from implants if possible but I do not want to lose a whole cup size.
Answer: Size With a breast lift, breast tissue is not removed, but excess skin is. If you have a lot of excess skin, you may be smaller after a lift.

Answer: Will breast lift reduce size? Hi @Jennabay, thanks for your question. You can achieve great results by raising the base and improving the overall proportion. This will create overall harmony. The lift can be performed through an L-shaped incision scar instead of an anchor. This allows me to reposition your own breast tissue and improve the projection of the upper pole and medial areas without losing volume. A consultation is vital to establish a surgical plan that meets your needs, meets your expectations and takes into account what is possible. Best regards. Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Answer: Breast Lift Size HI-The opinions of both surgeons are in my opinion correct. If you undergo a breast lift with autologous augmentation you should not lose volume in the breast as it is preserving the volume you currently have. On the other hand, if you undergo a breast lift without autologous augmentation by default you will lose some breast volume which will decrease the overall size of your breast. For your particular needs, I suggest you undergo a breast lift with autologous augmentation as that will achieve the most preservation of volume and size. Best of luck with your breast lift surgery, I hope your results are magnificent. Dr. Rodriguez

Answer: Will breast lift reduce size Dear Jennabay, breast lift shouldn't cause reduction in breast size. My preferred lift is a lollipop lift when a periareolar won't do (ie greater than 2cm lift required). The lollipop technique was created by a Canadian plastic surgeon named Elizabeth Hall-Findley and treats the breast as a three dimensional structure instead of two dimensions (anchor - lift). Most importantly it does not require the horizontal component scars that the anchor-lift requires and breasts appear much more natural, lifted, and less boxy. Lastly, the lift lasts longer because the lollipop doesn't rely on the skin to hold the breast up, its actually breast tissue thats being brought together to support the breast and hence improves longevity. Answer: Understanding Breast Lift Procedures and Size Changes Hello Jennabay, Thank you for reaching out with your question about whether a breast lift will reduce your breast size, especially when considering an autologous breast augmentation with a lift. In general, a breast lift (mastopexy) is designed to elevate and reshape sagging breasts, giving them a firmer and more youthful appearance. This procedure typically involves removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and areola. While a breast lift can slightly reduce breast volume due to the removal of skin, it doesn’t significantly decrease breast size in most cases. The autologous breast augmentation technique you mentioned involves using your own tissue, usually fat transferred from another part of your body, to add volume to the breasts. This can enhance fullness, especially in the upper part of the breasts, without the need for implants. It's a great option if you're happy with your current size but are looking to improve breast shape and fullness. The difference in opinions you received from the two doctors might be based on their different techniques and experiences. It's important to remember that each surgical approach and patient's body is unique, so outcomes can vary. If you're concerned about losing a whole cup size, it’s crucial to communicate this clearly to your surgeon. Discuss your goals, concerns about areola size, and the desire to maintain your current cup size. A skilled surgeon can tailor the procedure to meet your specific needs and expectations, and might combine different techniques to achieve the desired result without significant size reduction. Remember, choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in breast lift and autologous augmentation is key to getting the outcome you desire. If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to reach out. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Auto augmentation is mostly fantasy Upper pole fullness is elusive, and auto-augmentation with fatty tissue flaps or fat grafting make only a minimal difference. Breast implants are safe, effective at giving what most women want, and are very durable. Breast lifting only requires a small amount of tissue and skin to be removed. Changes in cup size are less to do with volume loss than shape change (more breast tissue up on the chest wall and not down filling the cup of the bra).
