In general, will a neck liposuction help with improving jowls (typical droopiness for a 54-year women)? Is there a way to get a neck liposuction where the fat will be extracted as I don't want it to stay in my body as I heard of it going to veins and clogging up arteries. Thank you!
Answer: Does Neck Liposuction Help Improve Jowls You may benefit from liposuction done with your doctor's office. During your initial examination, your #chin will be evaluated along with the neck and jawline. A weak #chin implies a lack of chin support for the skin along the neck line. In younger individuals a chin implant alone is usually all that is needed to improve the appearance of the neck. Subsequently, it will also improve the overall #balance of the face and can create the illusion of a smaller nose. As a stand-alone procedure, chin augmentation can be performed in the office under local #anesthesia. For individuals with signs of #aging in the neck, a chin implant added to one of the recommended procedures above, will provide optimal results. Also, the presence of banding down the front of the #neck, and, amount of excess skin and condition of your skin are among some factors which determine if you are a #candidate for #rejuvenating the neck. Often, #liposuction can be used with a neck lift or in place of depending on the amount of body fat in that area.A board certified plastic surgeon should evaluate both your anatomical features and aesthetic goals to determine if a neck lift and/or #chin procedure best suits your individual needs. In some cases your plastic surgeon may give you more than one option to choose from. If you are not a candidate at the time of your #consultation, your board certified plastic surgeon can recommend non-surgical alternatives to address your concern.

Answer: Double Chin Treatment / Laxity-- SmartLipo/VASER/ThermiRF, Botox, Venus Legacy, Kybella I treat this everyday in my practice. Properly performed liposuction with energy based devices physical fat removal, and will do fantastic to remove the fat, lift the skin, and contour the jawline and improve the jowls. I pretreat everyone with Botox 1-2 weeks before surgery to relax the neck muscles, allowing for better retraction of the skin after surgery. Then after treatment we do skin tightening with Venus Legacy to improve the results and decrease the neck swelling. I suggest you only see an expert for treatment of this area as a meticulous surgeon is required to get great results and complications in this area can be devastating both medically and cosmetically. A new medication that is used to remove chin fat with injections called Kybella may also be an option, as it secondarily allows for skin tightening/lifting as well. A formal consultation is needed to determine what are the best options for you. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Liposuction Liposuction will definitely extract the fat. In such a small area as the neck it is almost impossible to imagine fat getting in any artery. As for the jowls they can be suctioned at the same time as the central neck and generally do very well to reduce the size and improve the shape of the jowls. Good Luck!

Answer: Neck liposuction does not help with jowls knee Liposuction performed in the neck is designed to remove the fatty deposits in the neck only. At age 54 there may be excess and loose skin present which will require a facelift. When jowls are present, they need to be lifted back to their normal position with a face lift. When there is extensive fat in the neck, a lower face and neck lift is performed. For many examples and more information, please see the video and the link below

Answer: Jowls, neck liposuction and fat Fat is always removed during liposuction. Jowls are formed by skin and neck laxity rather than excess fat accumulation. If anything, the jowls can, at times, be accentuated from facial liposuction. There are surgeons who will liposuction the jowls directly, and minor improvements can be seen at times. Liposuction of this area puts patients at risk for developing facial nerve paralysis. The standard textbook treatment for the jowls is a facelift. An in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon can help decipher what treatment options might be appropriate for you.Best of luck, Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
