I had chin lipo 8. july how long can it be swollen? I've been disappointed the whole time & afraid that it will not be any difference. The chin ruins my face & side profile. This is so important to me & i am afraid. I hope there can be better result. The doctor said i didn't need chin strap, but i used it for 2 weeks. I had a lump but it is almost gone now. What do you think looking at my pictures? Is it possible to take a new liposuction now? If it's swelling how can it be so much after 5 weeks
Answer: Probably still swelling . . . Little bit difficult to address this without pre-op photos, or knowing the technique your surgeon used (or how much was removed); I do know that it is early to be assessing this as a final results, and likely still indeed is mostly swelling (if you had a lot of skin pre-op, however, it will take some time for that to adhere/"shrink up" (which varies a lot patient to patient . . . ) I would definitely continue chin wrapping (especially at night) and minimize your activity/blood pressure levels as possible. If there seems to be free-floating fluid there (usually indicated by overlying redness), tapping it with a needle may be necessary. In any case, these areas usually take a long time to fully resolve - thanks to gravity - but the good news is that time is on your side . . .

Answer: Chin liposuction Usually there is still residual swelling up until 6 months so I would be patient, however I always make my patients wear a chin strap after neck liposcution

Answer: Unhappy with liposuction results While it takes up to three months to see the final results after liposuction, my experience is that the neck heals faster than other part of the body. My best guess is if you don't see great improvements now, things will probably not change with time. There can be several reasons why patients fail to get good results after liposuction. They are typically one of two reasons: either the patient was not a good candidate in the first place or the procedure was not done correctly or sufficiently. Patients fail to be good candidates for liposuction when there are issues other than excess subcutaneous fat. In regards to the chin and neck, these typically include loose skin, loose platysma muscles or insufficient jaw projection. Without an examination, it's difficult to say precisely what potential results you should expect. It's up to the surgeon to make a proper assessment of each patient before the procedure. If an assessment is made correctly and realistic expectations are explained to patients before surgery, then patients have an understanding of the potential benefits of the procedure. When patients are not good candidates, they deserve to understand why their final outcome will be limited. In your case, I cannot say whether you're a good candidate or not. You're obviously not happy with the results. At this point, give it a few more months. Talk to your surgeon to see if you're a candidate for revision.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
